Wow, that's a good idea. *sarcasm* So the OP can go to jail and get her day care license (if she has one?) taken away. If anyone hit my kid, I'd be fuming.

BUT, as I stated above, all the five year olds I know would never even think of doing such a thing. And to the OP watching through the window... that's a totally normal thing to do, especially with a five year old. If he had been younger (under 2) I would understand this happening more. When they're five, you don't have to keep your eye 24/7 as they're supposed to be old enough to do certain activities on their own. That's the age they start kindergarten.

You don't hit anyone's child not even your own,
Violence only meets violence

5 yr olds are very smart & yes they know right from wrong there are to kinds of children 1 being taught the other with a blind mom that can see
no wrong no matter what he does

Yes, five year olds should know better but hitting is not going to solve anything.

I really hope you were kidding, when you say you would have thrown this child off the deck:eek:. If anyone that is in charge and getting paid for watching my child even touched my child to discipline him I would get the cops in their home so FAST. I do think it was wrong for this child to have done that but he's only 5 yrs old and there is always the possibility that he dropped the puppy not throw him. Someone needs to talk to him and explain that he hurt the puppy and he is to NEVER do that again. I also believe he should not have been left unsupervised not evev a second, GOD forbid it was the child who was hurt the OP would have alot of answering to do to his parents.

Do you have any skin children Betty? Because you're being very judgemental on this childs upbringing when you know nothing about him. If anyone that is to provide care for my child gave him a "ass whipping" I GUARANTEE you the will be getting one themselves from me too:mad:, and charges brought against them too. Just like it was wrong for this child to do this it would be even more wong for an adult to hurt anyones child.

ChantalB 03-19-2009 05:02 AM

I am very sorry for what happen to you puppy.

Hopefully it is only a only a pull muscle.

Is a 5 years old responsible of is act? It is debatable.

I would a try to teach him the consequence of his act. Physic correction are a big no no...

I you baby sit him again, make sure not to leave the dog alone with him, obviously...

Let us know how t when at the vet...

Princessmum 03-19-2009 05:03 AM

OP I'm really sorry this happened to your puppy, and I would definitely get him to the vet asap to make sure everything is ok. I also don't know how long you have been watching this child and what his normal behavior has been, and it would be up to you based on your experience if you should keep watching him. I would have his parents talk to him about it . I hope your furbaby is ok.

BLowry 03-19-2009 05:19 AM

As we ALL know if a yorkie wants out of our arms they will bolt...seems they have no fear. My Mother used to watch Sadie for me when she was a puppy. My Mom was holding her, Sadie was about 12 weeks old, Sadie decided she wanted to get down. She bolted out of my Moms arms and landed on the floor on her side and let out a yelp. My Mom was so upset. THANK GOD! Sadie was ok but, my Mom was shaking...I don't let ANY child hold my girls...even now and they are adult dogs. Maybe this little boy didn't throw her...maybe she jumped. I don't believe you should hit anyones child...Even though he is 5 he should no better not to hurt ANYTHING...However he is "5 yrs old"...I would have sat him down and explained to him what he did was wrong and that he should NEVER do anything like that again to ANY animal. I would have NEVER left the puppy outside with the children. These little guys can get into so much trouble on their own.

I hope and pray that your little furgirl is going to be ok.

Judgemental?? wrong he proved his case by his actions and yes i do have kids & G kids & 1 GGkid almost 5yrs old does he hurt my fur babies? No he was taught that he can not do this that we love our babies,
It seems most people on YT are not for selling to anyone with children this is a very good example of why and i agree 100%

ARCHIE 03-19-2009 05:26 AM

I do hope your little pup is fine after the vet checks him over.
Poor puppy.

I have raised 3 children and at the age of 5 years old a child, under
normal upbringing should be responsible for his/her actions.
Any 5 yrs old that does not know it's bad to throw a living creature
off a deck or even would want to has some sort of problem.
Most children would cry at seeing an animal hurt, at least mine would.
For heavens sake my granddaughter was three when I bought Buddy
and she was with me. She was so gentle to him and touched him
with such love and caring it touched my heart.
It's apparent to me that this child has never been around animals
and has not been taught what is right or wrong.
As far as leaving a 5yrs old out in the yard to play I see nothing wrong
with it. My children played in our yard with a friend while I was keeping
an eye out from the house, of course.
In some families 5yr olds take care of smaller siblings! If your child at the
age of 5 is not responsible enough to know right from wrong you better
get moving and teach him.
Are you saying that a five year old would not know the difference of
slapping or throwing an infant off the bed? To me it's the samething.
This boy is either spoiled rotten or just get's away with anything he
wants due to lack of guidance from his parent's. These kids are the ones
who cause trouble down the road.
I would most diffenately have a talk with his parents.
I would also never allow this child around the puppy until he get's
some dissapline and if the money is needed I would continue
to baby sit him but keep a watchful eye out for anything else he
might do.
I do hope your puppy will not be tramatized by this.
Saying a prayer that he will be alright.

Ladymom 03-19-2009 05:49 AM

What a horrible accident.

I honestly don't think you should expect the parents of the little boy to pay for any vet expenses. The incident happened in your home while he was in your care. I don't know how high your deck is, but they could be upset with you for letting their child out there unsupervised.

Please update us after you take your puppy to the vet.
