Maddie & Libby are both sick First, Libby started having strange episodes that was like she had something stuck in her throat. She would do that quite often and obviously was very distressed. I called this morn and of course, my vet is out of town, but got her in with another. Then, today, Maddie started having the same symptoms. I took Libby in and told my hubby I'd call if the vet wanted to see Maddie too and he could bring her up. The vet thinks it's kennel cough? Where in the world would they have caught that? They have been no where but here...it has been too cold to take them anywhere. Libby has a fever of 103.9, and she is pretty miserable. Maddie has gotten worse since this morning and they both sleep a lot. When reading about Kennel Cough, it said the dog stays pretty active, where Maddie and Libby aren't at all and not themselves. Whatever this is, it came on quickly. I almost wonder if they got sick from me. They are both on Clavamox for 14 days. I feel a little worried. I wish my vet was here. |
Oh Connie, I am so sorry to hear Maddie & Libby are sick. I hope they get better soon. And you too, take care of yourself. |
I'm sorry they are sick. Could it be tonsilitis? Dogs can catch it from people and they will cough and hack. I don't know if all vets think of tonsilitis. One of my friends digs gets it about once a year |

Connie, by the time I noticed the light blinking on our answer machine it was too late to call you back :( gosh we are so sorry that Maddie and Libby are ill, please call anytime during the night if you need someone to talk with. Praying they are doing better now being on the meds. Baby Blessing was constantly with me during my bout with that horrible cold and pneumonia and she stayed okay. I wonder if they could have gotten it from being air borne when outside? Hugs, Patti and Jack |
I was so sorry to hear both girls are sick. I will keep them in my prayers. |
So sorry to hear your girls are poorly. Hoping they get better soon. |
Connie, a short while back all my babies were sick too. One of the dogs that I watch during the week brought it into our home and they all came down with what appeared to be a " cold". They had a low grade temp and they were constantly sneezing and hacking. I had the vet put them on the same antibiotics and it went away in about 10 days. Sure hope that Maddy and Libby feel better soon .... |
Connie - so sorry both girls (and you) have been sick. I don't think they can contrac the actual bordatella from huamns but definitely they can catch an upper respiratory infection. Hope you all feel better real soon!!!! |
I hope that they get better soon! |
That sound like what Reese had...he was very very sick. Started acting like he didn't feel well...then the cough and a fever. I never received a definitive diagnosis. Be careful with the antibiotic...that made Reese aneroxic and just increased the problem. To help the congestion use a warm mist vaporizer with some vick's in it. That really seemed to help Reese feel and breathe must better. Hope they get well soon. |
Checking to see how the girls are doing? Better I hope! |
aww just reading this and wanted you wish your babies a speedy recovery |
Awww Maddie and Libby I sure hope you get to feeling better. I'm so sorry you are going through this. If they don't get better within a few days I'd take them back or call and see if your vet is in. I know how much confidence you have in him. I hope the meds don't make them sick and they will respond. Give them hugs from Bella and I. If you need anything let me know! Hope you feel better too! |
Connie I hope your girls feel better soon. Sending hugs to you and your babies:hug: |
Connie, how is your precious girls, Libby and Maddie doing? Sure praying the meds are working and they are making progress in getting over this. I wanted to phone you this evening but was concerned that I might wake you. You and the girls have been in my thoughts and prayers. Look forward to talking with you real soon. Love and Hugs, Patti and Jack Our girls send yummie kissies to you, especially little Prairie Bea :) |
Thanks to everyone for the well wishes! Maddie and Libby have not shown much improvement today, but they did show signs of life when my daughter and grandkids stopped by. They are very sluggish and have slept most of the day. When Maddie starts in with a coughing fit, Libby goes over to her and gives her kisses. It's so sweet. I don't know how their temps are...my thermometer broke and I need to get another. Our weather has warmed up a lot, but when I let them out to potty, Libby always starts in with her coughing...which doesn't seem like coughing to me. I just don't know...it is strange to me. They have only been on the meds for 2 days, so I guess I can't expect a big change this soon. I'll keep you updated. Right now, I'll take my little sweeties and go to bed! |
Poor babies:(: please get well soon for mommy:aimeeyork:aimeeyork |
Poor little things, I hope they get to feeling better real soon, keeping them in my thoughts and prayers. |
I am sorry that Libby and Maddie are not feeling a lot better, Hopefully today you will see some improvement on the meds. |
Sorry to hear that Maddie and Libby are sick.........how are they doing? |
Just checking in to see how the babies were today. Hope they are up and back to feeling themselves soon. |
Momo had respiratory infection which lasted 3 months, he was on 3 anti-biotics. He wasn't coughing, sounded more like hacking, like he had to cough out a hair ball or something. The 1st vet said it was kennel cough, but numerous visits & 3 vets later, not to mention huge whole in my pocket...what finally worked was upping the dose of amoxidrops to 5ml from 1ml. Mimi never caught it from him & kennel coughs are supposed to be contagious. I hope the girls will get better soon & I've never heard of pets catching something from humans, but you never know. |
I am very sorry that both girls are sick. Hoping that they feel better soon. |
Connie, I am so very sorry to hear that the girls are under the weather. Hope they get well soon! |
I hope both your girls are doing better Connie, will say a little prayer for them ! Hugs |
Thanks to everyone for their prayers and well wishes for Maddie and Libby. I am happy to say that I have noticed a definite improvement. They are still running a fever, but much lower than a few days ago and they didn't spend the whole day sleeping today...they wanted to play and showed some life. They are coughing less too! They still have over a weeks worth of meds, so I'm sure by the time they are done with them, they will be feeling fine. I still wonder how they caught whatever this is, but it will remain one of those mysteries. Hugs to all! |
I a glad to hear the girls are doing better. Give themm hugs from us. |

still praying for those babies and u:) |
Connie, Sorry to hear the girls are not feeling well. I hope there are back to normal soon. Hug to you all. |
