| Hi there. I am sorry to hear about your baby! It is a very stressful thing to have a sick baby. My baby Bear has luxating patellas to a very severe degree. He is 4 years old now and when he was 2 the doctor pointed it out to me. I took him to an ortho vet and talked about the patella repair surgery. We weighed the options and got several opinions and have decided not to do it. All of the vets we have seen have told us the surgery would be way harder on him then actually dealing with arthritis or stiff knees later on. Yes he will be in pain with arthritis, but they will give us pain meds and help relieve him of being uncomfortable in any way. He is not in discomfort right now, sometimes he may kick his leg out when he runs or cry if he jumps on it wrong. I do not know the extent of your baby's patella luxation, however I do know that the 6 doctors we have seen have said my Bear has a very severe case, so maybe this can help you in some way, maybe ease your mind or give you an opinion of someone going through this disease! Let me know if I can help!!

| What Grade LP does he have? Get some Cosequin for the Joint Supplement, this is very good and lots of us here use it. Do a search here on YT: Luxating Patella You will find lots and lots of threads. Roxy had surgery for this too. My advice is, if you have surgery, please have it done by an Board Cert. Ortho Specialist. |

| Roxy had Grade 2 and Grade 3 in her rear legs. When she started to limp and carry her leg often, that's when we decided to have surgery done to stop the luxation. She had both legs done at the same time. TJ has LP in one of his legs. Not sure of the Grade yet, but the Vet can easily manipulate it. So far, no limping or any other signs. He is on Dasiquin (a little stronger than Cosiquin - same company - Nutra Max). He may need surgery at some point. |
