| Roux is in the hospital He went from a happy, healthy puppy on Friday to a sluggish, non-eating, fast breathing patient yesterday. His x ray showed fluid in his lungs and he was on oxygen for 10 hours. He's also on antibiotics, the first of which caused him to itch badly. They also gave him a diuretic to get that fluid moving out of him. Thankfully, he's making up for things in the food dept. today. He's still breathing at a bit of an elevated rate, so he's going to stay today and tonight again and I'll get him in the am. I'm going to have to separate him from Pedro since that could be adding to his stress. Pedro has been ignoring him or running from him. The next few days, I belong to Roux almost 100% until he's happy and healthy. |

| Oh no. What do they think caused the fluid on his lungs? Is it pneumonia?

| I am so sorry your baby got this sick. Glad it was caught early ! It did seem like pneumonia.

The vet said it could be something viral, but whatever it is, it hit quickly. I'm so glad I got him in when I did or I don't think he'd be alive today. Mommy instinct is pretty strong with me.

What I am grateful about is that I was able to see his personality on Friday so that I could tell the major change on Saturday. He's a feisty, active, loving baby.

| How scary. Praying he improves quickly. Have you spoken to the breeder? It sounds like they sent you a sick puppy

| OMG!! You just got him!!! I hope he gets better soon. I am so sorry. Did he fly from DFW to SAT in the cabin, or underneath in the cargo bin?

| Thanks everyone. Good news, he's home!! I called after dinner and they said he was well enough to be sprung. What a difference! He's a feisty guy so he was biting on the cage and licking my finger. :-) I held him all the way home. He has to stay in his cage for a few days and now he's happily gnawing on a chew toy. The breeder has been calling me because she actually wanted to keep him. heh. She's been worried and we think him being wet during the trip probably started this. When I picked him up at the cargo place, they told me he had soiled and when I checked the carrier, the pad was completely soaked. He was wet, too. I wiped him with baby wipes in the car and left him out of the carrier for the ride home. He got a bath here, warmed up after in a towel, etc. Then he changed on Saturday. The breeder mentioned mating him when he's older with one of her bitches. |
