Poor baby Mya. I'm surprise they let her home and she didn't have to spend the night. I know how drugged Piper was and I brought her home 24 hours after the surgery. I wasn't prepared for the huge incision and how they shaved the whole back quarter of her body. Did they send you home with pain meds. They gave Piper Rimadyl twice a day and she didn't seem to be in a lot of pain. Piper slept in bed with me and she had a peaceful night. She was content just to be with her mommy. It was amazing how well she could get around on 3 legs. Good Luck and I'm sure Mya will be feeling better in a few days. |
she was sent home with 4 things...Rimadyl is one of them, clindamycin and tramadol ....2 are pain meds and 1 is an antibiotic....then she was sent home with a bone supplement to help bone healing and the flow of whatever needs to flow to the bone to help it heal faster and grow strong. Sigh, it's gonna be rough getting her to take all that medicine, I know she probably won't even be bribed by a piece of cheese :( any suggestions? |
Piper had 3 medications and 1 was an antibiotic and I was also concerned how I was going to get those pills down her. She never had any people food so she was very interested in the sliced chicken breast that I got at the deli. The meds went right down. |
Apparently she was hungry, i just got her pills down with some yogurt and cheese. Still hasn't drinken though... I have a question for you, how long did it take Piper to go potty? #1 or #2? I just took Mya out and not even a step. While she was with the Dr. he said at one point she just stood up and went #1 and #2, so I am hoping that's a good sign...but I am SURE she has to go. I just don't want her to have to have another enema :( Accidents are allowed, I just want her to go :( |
I didn't take Piper home until the next day and she peed and pooped as soon as we got home. I felt so bad for her because I brought her home in a bad snow storm and as soon as we got home I brought her outside to do potties. Poor Piper was standing outside on 3 legs, in a blizzard high winds and 0 degrees. |
aww did it take her awhile to go? or did she have to go bad enough that she just went right away without trying to walk around much? I know it's the first night, and she is still out of it...so I am assumign tomorrow will be a day closer to her being back to her normal self.... |
Piper went as soon as her feet hit the ground. She really had to go. |
I hope she feels better soon! |
I finally got some kisses today! I thinks he is in pain right now...i gave her her pain meds about 20 min ago...so hopefilly they'll start kicking in soon, I hate her being uncomfortable :(. She slept in her crate, woke me up at 3 to go potty, went A LOT....made me happy :) Anyway...I finally got her to lay down on the couch, she seemed so restless :( |
Thinking of you! I know your heart is broken over this! I guarantee you are suffering far worse. Hang in there and remember to exude positive energy for your baby. :animal-pa |
So sorry you and your baby had to go through this but I am relieved to hear she is home and on the mend. Sounds like she has a very loving mommy to nurse her back to health. :) |
You know you love them unconditionally when you are taking a wet towel to wipe their dirty tush :) |
This is so draining...she starts whimpering sometimes now when i pick her up to take her outside or move her, sigh. I just want my baby to feel better. She is eating well and drinking enough...so at least there are no complications thus far. |
Yes, that is unconditional love just like they have for us. We worry about them just as if they were little children. They are . . . just have four legs. We are happy when they potty (especially in the right place), when they eat/drink and when they sleep well. Hope your baby will get better soon. |
so glad your baby is doing okay;) |
