| Throwing up..Can it be a reaction to cat food?? Sorry if this is hard to read, I'm sick right now and my head is all stuffed up so I can't even think straight. Lucie got sick early this morning, she coughed up some white fluid, then went back to sleep. She just started throwing up some gross brown stuff a minute ago, and I found a little piece of chewed leaf from a jade plant and thought that was what caused it (I searched the jade plant and it said it is not poisonous) but I just looked at lucies potty pad and it looks like she may have thrown up earlier while I was at my own dr appointment (which would have been before she got to that leaf) Wed she got into a good amount of cat food, my dad came home and left his office door open and I didn't know, apparently Lucie got in there and ate a good amount of cat food. They buy some funky nutro cat food. Could that be whats causing this eventhough it was from the other day?? There is nothing else she has gotten into.

| I think i've read on here that cat food is not good for dogs- but i can't remember if that is long term or even once- can you call an ER vet and see what they say? |

| I think that cat food's higher in protein(and it's worse for a cat to eat dog food). How is she acting otherwise?? Is she laying around more, not eating/drinking?? I wouldn't think the food is what's causing the vomiting since it's been a couple of days. |

| How is you baby now? If she got cat food i would take her to the vet, not to scare you but we gave tucker some ham after christmas. didnt know dogs shouldnt eat ham because their livers can not process the fat in pork. well he was at the er for a whole weekend and almost died. and the vet told me cat food would do the same if they ate a good quanity of it. so if she isnt better i would take her to a vet. renae

| She's been acting normal. She has been drinking, and she ate about 30 minutes before she got sick. She was playing earlier today, I haven't noticed her acting abnormal. She hasn't thrown up again, she has just been sleeping.

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | teh cat food probably made her puke. when mine gets to it by accident she will either throw it up or have diarrhea the next day because it is too rich for them. if the throwing up or diarrhea lasts for more then a day or it happens frequently threw out the day and you notice them getting lethargic then i would go to the vet. they could become dehydrated from losing so much fluid. glad to hear your pup is ok now.

| Well now she isn't throwing up and her stools are completely normal, but this morning her gums were kind of blue, so I gave her some nutrical. I tried feeding her and she is picking at her food. Normally she scarfs it down but it took her an hour to eat today.

| Thanks She's started acting like her normal goofy self. Sleeping a little more than usual but she's eating normal again so I think she'll be ok.
