Awgh the little tator tot, I read your Previcox warning THANK YOU FOR THAT, you just never know.

I bet you are so glad you researched that medication because again, who's to say it wasn't something stemming from the meds but only the beginning. Had you kept giving it to her it may have gotten worse. I really hope that it wasn't, but I suppose you will never know but Tatum is ok and that's what matters!
Girl thank you so much, you are such a sweetheart! I am SO thankful that I did research on the Previcox - I will never again give her that stuff!! I am still just SO upset at my vet for prescribing it to her! I am looking for a NEW vet After his partner prescribing the Previcox to Tatum, and after figuring out the stuff with my Cocker Spaniel, I just DO NOT trust him anymore

Thank you for your kind words and well wishes...Tatum is totally fine now and her little poops are back to normal and are firm again like they should be - and NO MORE BLOOD I am ever so grateful!

Big hugs to you and the babies hun!

I'll be checking back for updates!
Thank you so much Connie! She actually didn't have any symptoms at all while on the Previcox, other than the bloody stool...but I just KNOW that the medication is what caused it I am just SO upset about that. How DARE THEM prescribe that to her knowing that it isn't supposed to be given to babies her size!!! I wish like nothing else that I could go up there and give them a piece of my mind, you just have NO idea!!

She is fine now though, thank GOD...no more bloody stools...I am just SO thankful - it could have been *much, much* worse

Give lots of sweet little hugs and kisses to Maddie and Libby for us and tell them that we love them!!! Hugs to you too girl, and we love ya!

Goodness I just read this. Glad to hear you got to the bottom of what was making the tater tot sick. Honestly I would have the vets office reimburse me for the bills, test and meds that I had to pay with this episode. I mean come on how can they not know what they are prescribing.

I was quite frustrated with the vet for not being able to pin it on anything besides "gastro upset" but I do realize that only I can really be the one to pinpoint the reasons in the end. After reading on here about the Innova change and going back through my checkbook and realizing that her problem coincided with the new food purchase (new bag, not new brand of food to her), then I felt so much better for finding the reason for her problems.

I do hope your vet can figure out what's wrong. Do you think it was the pain meds (read your other story too) that is doing this to her tummy? Sorry if you already answered this... didn't get to read every post.
My gosh Angie, poor little Tatum!! I bet you must have been scared out of your wits being that she had it THREE times! Bless her little heart! That poor girl Thank goodness it was only due to a formula change in the food and nothing more!

I DO think it was the pain meds that caused Tatum to have the bloody stool (well, diarrhea-like). She only had it once and it wasn't too long after I gave the Previcox to her. It seems that once the Previcox was "out of her system", she never had the bloody stools again. I did alot of research online about the Previcox and bloody diarrhea is definitely one of it's side effects. Also, it is not supposed to be given to babies that are under 12 and 1/2 pounds or so....so my vet prescribing this to her honestly just TICKS me off. Needless to say, we will be finding a new vet

My hubby said the same thing - go get you're money back! I mean I have every right to, but honestly, all I care about it Tatum's health and well being and her being OK. It's not even the money that I'm thinking about - I just want them to know that what they did was WRONG and I think they need to be held accountable for it. What happened to Tatum could have been MUCH WORSE...I don't even like to think about it These vets should KNOW what they are prescribing to their patients - for them to just throw any medication out there is absolutely WRONG. These babies LIVES lie in THEIR HANDS and they need to take EXTRA precaution and know what they are prescribing. This is just so upsetting to me and it makes me want to cry....HOW could they be so careless What if they are prescribing this same medication to other tiny babies? My God.... it is just SO scary.

I would be livid. I read somewhere a man said because he was a grumpy gus and always questioning his Dr. about his meds is why he was alive. He was hospitalized and they were just throwing meds at him and he turned into a real bugger and would make them stop and tell him the pros and cons of each medicine and make them look to see if it would have any adverse reaction to what was already prescribed. Turned out one medicine they wanted to give him was a total NO in bold with one that he was already on..it would have literally posioned him.

So I think like he said we need to question question and question before we take anything.

You know, that is really so SAD. It's a real shame when it gets to the point to where WE have to tell the DOCTORS what we are not supposed to have. I mean, HOW PATHETIC? Do they not learn ANYTHING at all in school???? I just don't get this. That is exactly how the doctors are here (human doctors - and vets, obviously ) and I am SICK of it.

It shouldn't be this way at all. It's just flat out wrong. It is just so sad that it is so hard to find a good doctor or vet these days. There is enough sickness in the world and we need GOOD doctors to help heal us. Sometimes I wonder where they pick up these doctors and vets from Makes me so mad I could spit nails.

Thank goodness Tatum is doing better! I can't believe they prescribe things that aren't correct. I thank the Lord Tatum is still with you! I trust my vet with all my heart, but after hearing about this, and other's with problems with meds, I will always research before giving them anything.

Maddie and Libby say thanks for the kisses! We love you too...and Stedman and Tatum. Your babies are the cutest little things...and such personality! At least that's how I take it seeing their pictures!

Omg omg

ok my dog just had this kinda stuff and i had been told it was colidis which just means an upset stomach.
But when i took her to the vet they told me it was pancreatitis which is most common in yorkies and schnauzers . she spent 3 days in hospital with antibiotic injections 2times a day no food or water and she was on fluids

and they put her on special food.
i suggest go to the vet
