| possible strained neck more I want to thank you for the replies... i have searched the forum and it has helped so much to make the decision to take her to the vet. Our Chiropractor has a little clicky thing and does a non force technique, but, now that i have read the site and info, especially on baby bear, I wish i did not go to the chiropractor. I have a vet appointment tomorrow, they have digital xray protocol. It will cost 56 for the visit, and 219 for 2 xrays. I will make sure they know how to deal with AAI before I go in. Her only symptoms are tilting head, and acting like her neck is stiff. she barks, runs, eats, plays, and jumps. I have been helping her up on the couch with me instead of her jumping, and trying to keep her more quiet, so i hope the results, if it is AAI, will be minimal therapy. Does anyone know what the therapy i might expect if it is a minor case of AAI? Val, do you know what I should expect? what kind of drugs should I not allow? Arnica sounds like a good choice possibly? I know the vet will not have it, but I depending on the diagnosis, it may be an option. Suggestions?? I also want to thank you, Val, for sharing your story and love for BabyBear. What an inspiration, and hope for all of us. I hope you read this because i am not sure how to make sure you see this. I am glad i will get something to help my baby and find out what is going on. Her name is Gabbie, short for Gabrial. |

| possible strained neck Hi Val and everyone who has replied. I just got back from the vet. Gabbie had a full exam (no blood work) and she did not whimper a bit. The vet could feel her neck curve, but felt like it is a tissue/muscle issue. Gabbie did not hold still enough for the xrays, so they had to sedate her. The 2 xrays showed the bend in her spine/neck, and a slight compression down where the neck curves. The area where the neck connects to the skull looks very good, and strong. There was no gap and does not look like there is any damage there at all, but an inch or two lower down the neck is where it curves. The vet is emailing me a copy of the xrays and I can send them to you so you can see what I am talking about. The vet wants Gabbie on steroids for 14 days, (Prednisoione), and she also wants her on pain med, (Tramadol) and muscle relaxer (Methocarbomal). I have the steroid, but the other 2 meds had to be prepared at a compounding pharmacy, and cost about 50$ each. She said that the steroid can help with the pain indirectly. I was thinking I would like to use something else for the pain, like maybe arnica homeopathically? But the muscle relaxer seems like it may be important for the muscle to loosen so the neck/spine can correct and not be pulled on by the muscle. I would appreciate any advice here, as I do not want to pay the extra compounding fee unless it is the last option. Can Arnica be used with a steriod? should i administer the steroid? Thank you for the support and prayers, and hugs for Gabbie. Cathyc |

| I am just now reading your story on your precious Gabbie. I would like to see a copy of your X rays when you get them in. BLEU BOY just like BABY BEAR had this surgery 1 year and 1/2 ago in January. He is fine now and doing very well. Val Babybears mom and I have met in person and she is very knowledgeable when it comes to the AAI/AAS pups. I am willing to help you in any way I can as well. Please keep us updated .. I just wanted to tell you to be careful when it comes to the medicine they give Gabbie. I think it is good yes but........... Gabbies pain does not need to be masked that is what they did to BLEU BOY .. I took him to 4 vets not knowing he had AAI/AAS and all 4 vets missed diagnosing him ... They gave him meds to mask what he was going through.... Please stop all your chiro treatments and do not let anyone touch her other than a neurologists. I have many stories on here about BLEU BOY just click on my name and view my threads/not posts but threads.... It was back in Jan of 08 I do believe. I am available any time please do not hesitate to send me a message or I will even extend to you my number shall you ask for it. Take Care Vicki
