| ![]() I noticed my male yorkie having scooting his behind and having problems pooping. Does this mean that his anal glands need to be expelled? How do you do that? or Do I have to take him to the vet? Your advice please?

| ![]() usually scooting means anal glands. Not so much trouble pooping- that could be constipation- have you checked around his bum to make sure there is no poop there that is making it hard for him to go? The vet can expel them- for a small cost- i think i paid 12 bucks for Layla. |

| ![]() Yes scooting is a sign. Chloe had her glands done last vet check. But she did an outer type expel (?) not sure how , but said she will do a full one when she comes in for her spaying and teeth removal....she hasn't scooted since.

| ![]() Scooting is a sign of anal glands, but also worms. Murfee had this problem not long ago.

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | ![]() Probably doesn't need to be both, I give him about 5 green beans a night, the frozen kind since they don't contain salt, I thaw them in the microwave and chop them. I've been using a product with milled flax seed because it's supposed to be good for the coat, but it also helps with digestion, and ads fiber to their diet. It has to be milled seed, and you use about 1 tsp. It may be a one-time thing for you, but for Joey it was reoccurring, and I don't know if these things helped, but they don't hurt.

| ![]() Keoki has anal gland issues as well and when the vet recently expelled them he recommended putting a teaspoon of pumpkin filling with his food and said that 70% of his clients never have that problem again- I have been doing it and it seems to be working and Keoki likes it! It's a more holistic approach |
