Yup, that a sure sign, Joey had a problem with his glands for the first 6 months or so. The vet said that some dogs don't push hard enough when they poop, and they don't naturally empty. Joey needed his expressed every couple of weeks, and the vet showed me how to do it. Scooting and a puffy butt were the signs for Joey. It's really easy to do, but you must do it correctly or you will push the contents up further, and this can lead to serious problems. Joey outgrew the problem, but somewhere along the line we had added ground flax seed, and green beans. Both are bulk producers and may have helped.
