| ![]() I recently noticed that the skin around Kiwi's nose is turning pink. I took her to the vet this morning and he assured me that it just seems like an allergy. I changed her bowls to stainless steel. I swear it seems to be spreading since this morning. I feed Eagle Pack Holistic. Does anyone feed this particular feed? I dont' know what else to do for allergies....

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | ![]() What were you using before stainless? I've heard that the nickel in stainless can leach out over time and cause problems, just be sure to change the bowl when it show signs of wear. Some dogs get what's called "winter nose" and the pigment lightens due to the fact that they aren't outside much. Does he spend much time outside? Did the vet say what kind of allergy?

| ![]() I am sorry. I don't know what to tell you. ![]() Love her name! ![]() ![]() My Kiwi had a pink freckle on her black nose. It started out as a tiny spec and grew with age. It never took over her whole nose. I don't think it was allergies though. Good luck. I hope you find your answer!

| ![]() I have a yorkie that had the pink pigment on her nose. She is now 4 yrs. old and the pink just went away one day and her nose is now all dark. I never changed food or bowls although I feel all of my puppies out of glass bowls. |

| ![]() Before the stainless bowls I used basic plastic pet bowls from the pet store. The vet suggested I make a switch as some dogs have problems with plastic. He also told me that dogs generally have either seasonal allergies (pollen) but that wasn't it because of the cold weather. Flea allergies, but that wasn't it because she doesn't have flees. Food allergies. This might be it. A few weeks ago I transitioned her food to an organic kibble (no corn, wheat, soy). But the Eagle Pack does have grains...could that be it? We've determined it'a an allergy because she occassionly licks her paws and "roots" on the ground sometimes.... I have a horse that has "freckles" and I initially thought that was the same with little Kiwi, but then I noticed that the pink is spreading... I'm at a loss ![]()

| ![]() Maybe pick up ceramic bowls? If the vet didn't think anything was wrong maybe it is just her growing into a bigger nose? It's not raw and pink is it?

| ![]() I don't know how Yorkies would fare with this, but my mom had our old miniature schnauzer on a fish and potatoes kibble for her first couple of years since she was allergic to practically everything. I haven't got a clue about specifically the nose pigmentation part specifically though. Good luck :-) Lauren & Nikko |

| ![]() Piccolo lost the pigment on her nose last year, for a couple of months. It came back, though. Her nose was running and she was licking her nose constantly. She spent a great deal of time at vet appointments and everything was finally figured out. Hope things get figured out for your furbaby.

| ![]() If it's "snow nose" does the pigmentation come back? What did they figure out was going on with Piccolo?

| ![]() The pigment does come back...happens to Valentino almost every winter. Then when he is outside more in summer...its back to black again.

Well at first I thought it might just be the winter nose everyone above was talking about. But soon I noticed that it was getting so bad that it appeared to have a scab ![]() Does your baby have any other allergy symptoms? Here is what I also noticed in Kiwi that led me to the allergy determination: lick her paws, "root" getting on her back and twisting around, taking her paws to rub her eyes, kind of wheezing just sometimes. From what I understand a grain allergy is one of the more common food allergies in dogs. Hope this helps! ![]()
