Mom accidentally circumsized male pup!? Mom bit the little bit of skin for the penis!? I guess she thought it was part of his belly cord!? Anyone else have this happen!?

It's for real!!! He's going on 3 weeks old now, I called the vet and I am taking him in next week, the vet said as long as he is still able to pee he is fine if anything changes obviously I would take him in. I found someone that had it happen before too and she said the pup was fine and even ended up a breeder!? We shall see! I'll keep you's posted!

| Youch! I would definitely get him to a vet to make sure everything is ok, and to get antibiotics if necessary to prevent infection.

Re: Vet No, I called and he asked if he was still peeing and I said yes, it is healed now!? I was just asking if anyone else has ever had this happen to see about his future! To see if other dogs like him have been fine like the other dog I found like this or if there can be other problems, etc.

Re cap OK, when he was born Mom was "cutting" his cord and went a little too low and got the extra skin that is there to cover what will be is penis when he is older. He is now going on 3 weeks old and it is healed, but I wanted to see if there are any other dogs out there that had this happen to see if they have had any other issues. I found one that is now 3 years old and he is fine and even breeds. If I can find 2 or 3 more that have not had any issues odds are this little guy won't have any further issues either!?

You can never compare an issue with your dog to the issue of another one...two different dogs...totally different possible outcomes. Didn't the vet check the pup when you took them in to have their well check and dew claws done at 3 days old? My vet gave a complete check over of the Mom and pups at 3 days. I wouldn't wait for next week...this should have already been looked at regardless of whether the pup is peeing alright or not...antibiotics or stitches or anything could have been needed.

Re: Vet again I do my own tails and dew claws I do not take pups out of my pup room for anything until they are 6 weeks old and get their shots, unless there are other life threatening issues of course...never mind I was just asking for others input not how I should be doing things! Thank you all anyway!

Sadly I had this happen a few years ago. I rushed mine to the Vet and he got stitches. It was probably worse injured, but my poor boy didn't make it I'm glad yours is doing well!

| Can't be sure without a vet checking over and seeing the injury. I really would have him looked at by a vet to ensure that his penis isn't blocked in some way or infected-the little ones can go downhill so quickly if they do get sick, it's just not worth the risk to the little guy. Also, if it did do some damage, you may want to have it repaired now before it had a chance to get any worse or before he grows any more.

Aaawww... Sorry to hear about your little guy! Yeah, he is doing fine I am just concerned about his future! I would like to find a few others (although if I can't that is good too, as this is a terrible accident and I hope there aren't many out there that have had this happen) but if I could find another and their male is fine now too as an adult then odds for this little guys future are good! :- ))
