| I'm new with protruding rectum Hi, Lizzy and I are new to the site. I came home from work today and found that she had dried poo on her bottom. I cleaned her up and had to clip some of the hair away from her rectum. When I did this I noticed that her rectum was protruding and very red. What can I do to make it better? |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Welcome . It depends on what you mean here. How old is this baby? If it is just an irritated anus - then you can use diaper cream or hydrocortisone cream and put gently on the area to soothe it. If this is a prolapsing rectum - where the rectum is actually turning inside out (which I'd doubt, but it can happen), then you need to go to the vet.

| Lizzy is almost 10wks old. Since I have cleaned her up she has went poo but she seems to strain quite a bit. It looks it may be just irritated, but it is sticking out just a little. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | That's pretty young. Is she constipated? Have you changed food? Has she been drinking enough? If she is your new puppy, have you had her to the vet yet?

| Hmmm....sometimes Roxy's and TJ's 'hinny hole' does stick out (yes, I feel their hinny holes ALL the time ) but then it 'sucks' back in. I don't think it is cause for alarm though |
