Aww Mike I'm so sorry about what's happened! I feel so bad for Eddie!! His sneezing is just awful to watch. I'm sorry you have to deal with this. I'm glad you're looking for second opinions! I don't know anything about foxtails but, they seem awful. You and Eddie are in my prayers!! I hope he gets better soon! Please keep us posted.

Hi Mike, sorry I am just seeing this about poor Eddie!!! I had no idea that foxtails even existed.......I was totally clueless but so glad you posted some information on it. They are "horad" things as you said in the video. I am wishing Eddie a complete recovery and hope he is feeling better soon!!! I posted the link to your information and the video on MT..........I think more people should be aware of this horrible plant that can cause so much trouble for our babies.

I just saw the video...a tear jerker. I don't understand how the vets can't be more concerned when he is having sneezing fits like that. Of course I will keep Eddie in my thoughts...I have ever since reading your first post...and I'm praying. Hugs to you!

If it is the foxtail that is making Eddie sneeze, I don't understand how antibiotics would help. Maybe the vet prescribed antibiotics in case the sneezing is caused by something else????

I watched the video, and except for the sneezing, Eddie looks GREAT. In fact, it doesn't look like you are holding back on the kibble, if you know what I mean. Maybe he's just getting a little fluffy ;)

My little girl had long bangs, and after a day of playing with her brother, she seemed restless and did not want to play. Her bangs covered her eyes and we didn't notice at first. She had her eye almost closed with infection.

We thought her brother had scratched her eye and after cleaning her up best we could took her to emergency vet.

Yep, Foxtail was in her eye and we could not see it with naked eye.

Now we keep her bangs shorter. We have twelve yorkies in our family.
My kids have been forced to take our litters because we bond too quickly and can't sell them. Sundays are fun at our house because they all love the pool. My three are grandma Zoya 10, her daughter Kaley 4 and Kaleys daughter Inara age 15 months.

Poor baby but I dont know what a fox tail is

First of all, Eddie's not fat. He's big boned! LOL, actually, and I'm being honest here, he's in pretty good shape. He was 11 1/2 pounds at the end of winter, admittedly a porker, but he's down to 10.3 now. I've been so worried about it that I weigh him every week. But everybody is telling me he's fat. It's just because he's so fluffy. I never let his hair get this long. I'm searching for a new groomer after a bad experience at Petco!

As for the rest, ugh. With the exception of when I insisted on the scoping, the vets have been treating him as if there's nothing in there other than an irritation or allegy. They're doing that because searching for something tiny in a Yorkie nose is almost impossible, so that's their only option. They're forced to presume there's nothing in there and treating what else it could be.

I honestly hope they're right, and there's a chance they're right. The most plausible explanation I've heard from them is that something went up there and poked him, causing an irritation. He's sneezing because he thinks the irritation is an object.

The problem is, now I'm sort of stuck having to wait and try the vets' approach. Scoping him most certainly caused some irritation in the nasal passage, and anyone going in with another scope right away wouldn't be able to tell what was caused by the previous scoping and what was caused by any foreign object. So as I'm waiting for it to heal from the scoping, I might as well hope the meds work.

He's had a few small sneezes this morning but nothing violent. I hope that's good news.

Mike, I feel so bad for you and Eddie and of course your wife. :( I hate that you're all having to go through this and I am hoping that Eddie will be better soon and the sneezing stops on it's own or the next scope will show the problem.

I think Eddie looks great, he's always so attentive with you and has a ton of energy... all three of them are really lucky to have you as their Dad.

I believe you that Eddie is not fat. With the exercise regime that you have your boys on, I doubt he could ever get fat. He IS fluffy, though. I think it's cute.

My Edie, on the other hand, needs to drop about a pound, I would guess. We are walking more, which is good for both of us. I am carefully measuring out the food, but I think she is raiding Breezy's bowl (Breezy is our svelte 15-lb Westie). I am not sure how to deal with the problem, so I am just upping the exercise.

I am glad no sneezing fits today. Keep us posted.

Mike.........I apoligize for not seeing this sooner. I usually see your name on a thread title & jump right in for those great pictures & videos. Guess I should visit the sick & injured section more often.

Poor Eddie :( It is so sad to see our fur babies not feeling well or seemingly miserable from sneezing so much. I had no idea the damage foxtails coud do either and I will be watching for them carefully from now on. Hugs to Eddie; & prayers (better late than never) that his sneezing bouts continue to decrease then disappear completely.

BTW.....even in here dealing with Eddie's foxtail issue, still you were able to treat us to a couple of nice pictures and a very nice video of Eddie and your other 2 boys. Thanks!

He hasn't had a serious sneezing fit since yesterday that I've seen, so I'm hoping that's good news.

Wow, how did I miss this?? Mike, I am so sorry little Eddie isn't feeling well. I never knew the dangers of foxtails! OMG Mike and Eddie, I just saw this post tonight (our electric has been off for 4 days from Ike and getting Zoey seen too...just checked in for first time to read posts) .....I am sooo sorry about those terrible foxtails and Eddie's sneezing fits. So glad to see his energy still abound in the video though....I always wanta just step into the computer and grab him and give him a big hug....he is just so darn adorable. He does look groggy in his little pic though. Hate that you guys are having to go thru this. Do you have to wait about a week for the next scope? Waiting is just so darn hard too. I would think it would be a good sign that the latest fits were less sneezes in the rounds. Eddie is sure a lucky guy to have you guys as parents!! Your love for them is so evident in all that you do with them! It always brings such a smile to my face to see you guys in action!! The way he focuses on you, those eyes, show it all!!:) We will keep you guys in our thoughts and prayers.

Aww, thanks. He had a pretty good day today. Still sneezing but no real violent episodes like yesterday as far as I can tell. Tonight, he's feeling his oats. He's wanting to play chase Eddie, and I'm the chaser.
