aww Mike I'm sorry they didn't find anything but again that's a good thing. Hopefully it's just nothing more then an irritant/allergy and will go away with the antibiotics. Sending happy/good vibes |
1 Attachment(s) Thanks everybody! As much as I felt in my heart it was the right thing to do, it's not fun seeing him come home all drugged and hurting. I wish I could take it all away. Here's my boy tonight. |
AWWW Mike I am just seeing this I am so sorry I will keep you both in my prayers. |
oh poor baby, breaks my heart. I get soo attached. I probably shouldn't have pets. ;) |
Ahhh...poor little Eddie...it breaks my heart to see him looking so sad. I would have done the same as you, if one of mine started sneezing after being around foxtails. I will pray that all is well with Eddie! Maddie and Libby send get well kisses! |

I'm hoping Eddie feels better by now. Maybe he sneezed whatever it was...out. Hope so. |
Oh my gosh Mike, how the heck have I missed this thread? I am so so so sorry to hear about Eddie. Those foxtails are horrible here in California. Poor little guy, that picture of him makes me so sad. He looks miserable. Give him a hug from Auntie P. I will be sending lots of prayers:hands: up to Alaska in the hopes that the antibiotics make him better. :getwell: |
Oh my goodness Mike----I hope things get turned around to normal very soon. I had no idea about this being a threat to the pups. Freaking grass----- double ugh.:( |

I am so sorry Mike:( Thats so hard when they can't find anything. How is he doing today? Hopefully he got it out and was sneezing from irritation from the swelling. Give him lots of kisses from all of us we hope he gets better soon! Tell him i'll make him a Krackle Jax body suit so those foxtails can't get him again lol:rolleyes:. Seriously though i hope he feels better soon! |
Hoping Eddie is OK and the swelling will go down on it's own, foxtails are so scary! |
Just checking on how Eddie is doing today....anyone have any news??? |

You guys are so nice to keep thinking of my little guy. That's why I love it around here. Well, he's still sneezing. That's what I expected because the vet wasn't able to find anything during the scoping. It's only once or twice a day, but they are fairly violent sneezes, 10 or 12 at a time. My vet and the vet who did the scoping want me to treat him with antibiotics and an anti-inflammatory and hope. I'm having a hard time following their advice. I e-mailed a vet in California who runs into more cases like this, and he told me point blank that I shouldn't give up. I should have him rescoped by somebody else. I've got a call in to the emergency vet in town to see what they think. There are only three places in town that have a scope small enough, and this place is one of them. If this vet agrees with the California vet, I'm going to have him scoped again. It breaks my heart to put him through it, but I know in my heart that he's got something up there. My vet and the vet who scoped him are trying to tell me it could be anything from kennel cough to a normal allergy. I could buy that if I hadn't seen his head buried in the foxtails immediately before the sneezing started. So keep us in your thoughts. I keep hoping the problem will disappear as my vet thinks, but I'm not going to wait around for that to happen. I made a real sad video that shows him sneezing and then playing, but I won't have a chance to post it until late tonight. It's pretty corny, but it helps me cope. |
Mike I am so very sorry that precious little Eddie is still having problems. From what I now know about the evil Foxtails I think you are right to be very proactive in getting him checked out. I will keep your family in my thoughts  and prayers :hands:. Are Jack and Rusty ok? |
Poor Eddie! I'm so sorry that he is going through all of this but hopefully when they rescope him they will have success in getting that blasted thing out. Keeping positive thoughts coming your way. When is he having it done? |

I just talked to the emergency vet in town, and he gave me similar advice. Wait a week and see how he does on the meds. His reasoning: There was likely some trauma caused by the first scoping. Anyone going in right away won't be able to tell the difference between that trauma and any caused by a foreign body. But he did give me some ideas. There are smaller scopes, none in Alaska to his knowledge, but quite likely one in Seattle. I'm going to start checking on that while letting the meds work. And I'll be asking other vets for their opinions on the urgency. |
I'm sorry that Eddie is still sneezing. :( I think your a really good Dad to Eddie to check into all that you said about in your latest post. :) Good Luck in getting to the bottom of this, Mike. Get Well Soon, Eddie. :getwell::aimeeyork |
Gosh, I feel so bad for you and Eddie. I don't blame you for being concerned and pursuing help and treatment for him. What a worry. |
Mike and Eddie - I am so very sorry that you are both going through this. Just a boy having fun - it just isn't right. Mike, you are being the best possible dad for Eddie right now. I am proud of the way you are following your gut and doing what you know is right for your boy. It is hard to stand up when the vet is telling you one thing and in your heart of hearts you know differently. Good job and keep of the good fight for Eddie - you know he would be doing the same for you if things were reversed! You will both be in my prayers. I haven't bee her for long, but you and Eddie quickly became a favorite - I will check back in on Eddie often. Give him Eddie an extra hug and tummy rub from Idaho buddies! |
Aww, thanks everybody for your continued support. I made this video today not to make anybody sad but as therapy for myself. I'd drive myself crazy if I didn't have something to do. |
Great video, Mike!! I, like you, wouldn't sit idly by and hope that medicine will cure Eddie. When you think about it, it really doesn't make sense. I am just praying that you will find a solution for him and I know you will. I knew about Foxtail, but had forgotten how bad the stuff really is! Please give Eddie extra hugs for Toto and me. |
