| I am so sad...took Cooper to the vet today... Cooper has been limping a little the last couple of days, so I made an appointment to take him to the vet to get checked. We went today and they did x-rays on his legs and hip. To my total devistation the vet showed me the x-ray, and his left hip joint is malformed. She said it was pretty bad, and by looking at the film I would have to agree. We are either looking at surjery to remove the joint or a full hip replacement. He is only 9 months and I am soooooo sad. Of course we are going to do whatever is best for him, but the vet said that it was genetic. I am going to call the breeder we got him from, but not quite sure what to say. Any advice?

| I am sorry you and your baby are going through this. Do you have good repore with the breeder? If not I would ask the vet to document the findings so the breeder can see it. Did you have a health guarantee against genetic defects? I am sure you don't want to take him back-as many guarantees are this way I think-but that is 9 months of attachment. Just explain your concerns, the vet visit, and what he said. She may want a second opinion.

Donating YT 10K Club Member | Awww poor Cooper. Hopefully someone whose dog has had surgery for Legg-Calve-Perthes disease will pop in with advise. Definitely notify your breeder. Will keep Coop in my prayers.

| Sorry to hear about poor Cooper. I'm sure he can still live a happy, healthy life after hip replacement if that's what has to be done...unfortunately, not what you needed to hear....having to put out that kind of money so soon. Maybe the breeder can work out something for you(she has to know you wouldn't think of giving him back after 9 mths of bonding & loving him). Maybe she can assist monetarily in some way? May be far fetched but just a thought...depends on the breeder. I wish nothing but the best for you and little cooper..bless his heart!
