| Lethargic Shorkie Hello everyone, I woke up yesterday, and since I let Precious sleep in a crate still, 1st thing I do is take her out to do her business. This is at 5:30am. I went to Precious' "room" and opened the crate. Usually she is so beside herself (cause Ive trained her to stay until I say come out) that she starts to tinkle a bit, but she barely could hold her head up! I reached in and cupped my hands around her like I always do, and her little body was completely limp! I screamed for my wife to come there, and Precious barely wiggled her tail and was completely lethargic. I had my wife hold her while I got dressed and we sped up to the Animal Clinic Emergency Room. On the way, "P" had a major accident in the SUV, and poor thing thought I was mad at her cause she whimpered when I was trying to just clean her up. The ER Nurse took us in fast due to the significant need for treatment, and took blood, a stool sample, gave "P" some vitamin shots (K and three others...I dont recall), IV fluids and a shot of Doxicyclin (strong aantibiotic). "P"s test came back that she had excessively high amount of sugar in her blood, excessively low amounts of protein and white blood cells, and a odd result on her red blood cells (they are being crushed in two) (????) as they flow through her body. They think she may have gotten hold of a rat (we just moved to the country and she plays outside ALOT) that had some rat poisen inside it. I still dont know anything else, but Ill post when I do. Please pray for her Thanks Jim "Shorkie Daddy"

| Good news The Vet called me today and said that all of Precious' second set of tests (bloodwork, fecal, and protien checks) came back negative from any "current poisoning". Said it was definitely rat poison. She had vomited kinda bad prior to her going to the Vet, and he seems to think that her body was getting rid of the illness that was inside her. We are so happy, she is bouncing off the walls (literally) so she is back to her rambunctious self again. Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. JIM, SHURRONNA & "P"

| Thank goodness she's okay! I can't imagine how scary that must've been! I would've been freaking out. Sounds like you and your wife handled things fast and perfectly. |
