YorkieTalk Newbie! | She was diagnosed with bronchopneumonia!!! Posted Today at 11:53 AM by georgia brown My precious Georgia is 10 years old, Thursday she had her usual vaccine shots at her Vet, next day Friday afternoon went to the groomer who I trust 100%, I picked her up and everything was normal, after about an hour I noticed she was having difficulties breathing, inmediatly took her to the Emergency Clinic where they kept her all night under observation, administered oxygen and took X-rays that showed something in her lungs or an enlarged esophagus. Next day after picking her up from the ER, took her to her Vet that took additional X-rays with contrast media and finally diagnosed as having Bronchopneumonia , she is taking two different antibiotics and resting. I hear her coughing at night and not so much during the day, she is doing a lot better. Doctors don't know why she has this and of course I am very worried. Any comments?

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I'm not sure - they didn't give her a kennel cough vaccine with those shots, did they? I hope she recovers soon and is back to her healthy self!

With Google I found a groomer with the perfect qualifications, she is from Yorkshire, England and she breeds yorkies. She has many years experience and shows a beautiful little male that has been a champion, I understand he will be in Westminster.

YorkieTalk Newbie! | Good morning and thank you for your good wishes. Mi Georgia is doing a lot better, her appetite has improved and is breathing with no problem, no coughing today. We will visit her Vet this next Wednesday. I feel a lot better about her condition.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | That's exactly why I asked ! I suspected this. Basically, that shot they gave is what made your baby sick. I never give KCough - but I don't take my dogs to the kennel, groomers, or dog parks. Plus, your dog is a bit older - so it's too bad that vet didn't use more caution here in not only giving so many shots at once (not good in itself), but in giving KCough period, you know? I'm glad she is doing better!!

| Welcome... I'm so glad to hear Georgia is doing so much better. I worked for a Vet and we never gave Kennel Cough to dogs who were not kenneled. alot of dogs do come down with Kennel Cough after getting the shot. I don't get mine the KC vaccine. It sounds like she's on the road to recovery, Best Wishes and Welcome to YT!! Baron's Mom
