Avie isn't feeling well!!! Concussion??
 

Long story short..

the girls were playing last night-Avie hit her head on the coffee table.. & it was LOUD :( she seemed to be fine and we just kept a close eye on her.. (in case she may have a concussion!?) Late last night she started having runny poop.. and went a couple times in a short period! ..then at about 4am she threw up a few times! :( (the first two time were throw up mixed with some bile.. and then just some bile this morning) she isnt wanting to eat or drink.. we made her take some nutri-cal.. and we called the vet-he will be in, in about an hour-so Tim is going to take her in!! I have a charity cut-a-thon at my salon.. and I have to leave in about 45min!! i am so scared for Avie.. i am crying :(:( I don't want to leave her!! she is just so blah and not herself! :( PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, PRAY EVERYTHING IS OK with her!!!! any info, in the meantime would be GREAT! thanks all!!

Meg, I am so sorry to hear Avie is not feeling well. It is good that she is going to the vet, better safe than sorry! Sending healing thoughts for your little Avie.

OK.. i didn't go to my salon's event today!! i just COULDN'T IMAGINE leaving her.. NOT knowing what was wrong! PLUS with Gemma it would be TOO difficult for Tim to go to the vet alone.. and we can't leave Gemma quite yet.

anyway.. Our on call vet met us & checked her out:
-He took xrays of her little head! (NO Fracture, etc.. THANK GOD!!):thumbup:
-He took her TEMP. and she did have a fever!! :(
-So he took some blood and is sending it to the lab to have it checked out!(to be safe).

-She wasn't eating or drinking so he wanted her to stay the night.. with IV for fluids & a med. that will help prevent swelling, etc. (in case a concussion is present) (This could also be given by him, not just through IV).. I chose NOT to leave her! (he said he would be IN and OUT..but no one is there full time, until the morning! (He gave us the option to leave her or not! That is my LAST resort & I didn't think it was necessary.. We would be with her 24-7 to keep an eye on her and make sure she is hydrated, etc. plus i know she would be SO scared & sad.. i don't think that would HELP her condition:confused:)

-He put her on some antibiotics, for her fever! i have to give them to her over the next couple days! (he said her fever could be related to her head being hit.. OR it could be something else-which is why he took blood and put her on the antibiotics!)


So we will wait for the blood test results.. and keep an eye on my baby girl, along with giving her the antibiotics!
i DO have a better piece of mind.. KNOWING there isnt any swelling, fracture, etc. And at least we were able to find out about the fever and get that taken care of!! i have to go back in a couple days for a check-up.. and of course if she gets worse, go back asap!

She did eat a little little bit.. (NV Canned and a little cottage cheese) she drank a little water, but i want her to drink more!!

she is just sleeping and laying around.. still NOT herself!! :cry: she isn't throwing up and hasn't pooped(she was going pretty often and it was runny! :thumbdown) SO..we are better than earlier this AM!;)


I MUST ADD how WONDERFUL her Daddy is.. He was up with her ALL night/early morning!! :( (prob got an hour of sleep!) HE LOVES HIS BABY GIRL JUST AS MUCH AS I DO.. & i could tell he was so worried about her!!(which made me EVEN worse!!):eek:

Meg, thanks so much for the update on Avie! We'll continue to keep her in our thoughts for a speedy recovery. As for the water, you might want to sryinge her some every hour or so, I've done this with a couple of mine when they wouldn't drink on their own. I just keep track of how much they were getting and tried to make sure they were getting at least close to their normal daily intake

Give little Avie kisses for all of us!!! Get well little girl!!!

Oh Meg! So sorry that Avie isn't feeling well today. It sounds like you are being the best mom and taking her to the vet and keeping an eye on her. You are exactly like me, I would have totally blown off the work commitment and stayed with my pup too. We will send all sorts of prayers your way in the hopes that they get to Avie and assist in her speedy recovery. Derby, Jockey and I are all thinking of Little Miss Avie.....keep us posted. Hugs.

i will keep you posted.. but im HOPING the antibiotics start kicking in and she feels better SOON! Funny you say to syringe her some water.. i just did not too long ago! ;) and we got a cold, wet washcloth and that felt good for her too! i will continue to give her water that way, if she doesn't drink on her own.. I am very sorry your girl is not feeling well . Gosh I hate that... Poor baby. I hope she feels better soon and is ok.

Aw, the poor little girl. I hope she will recover quite quickly now that she is getting lots of TLC and the antibiotics. A mommy and daddy's love goes a long way to help heal those little ones.:)

I just saw this post... i am So sorry sweet Avie had an accident.. we hope she starts to feel better REALLY soon

while on antibiotics and when she wants to eat again- try giving her pro biotic yogurt daily... the anitbiotics are going to wipe out EVERY bacteria... both bad AND good and that can lead to many tummy issues later!

I could not imagine having to be at that event today!! :eek: ..i would have been freaking out and so worried about my baby girl!! Tim would have definitely been able to handle it :thumbup:.. but with Gemma it's just too hard-i know, you know how it is! ;)) PLUS i really wanted to be there with her at the vet!!!

Tim just went to the store, so i had him pick up some of the yogurt! (dan active, activia, etc., right?!) :confused: does it matter the flavor? (he got strawberry?)
She ate some more canned NV chicken tonight(yay!:)).. she has had some cottage cheese as well.. is that too much dairy? should i wait till tomorrow to give it to her, you think?

We\'re hoping Avie is feeling better today. Poor baby must have had some
headache! Thank heavens nothing was broken. Hopefully the meds kicked
in and she is on the road to a full recovery. They sure know how to
scare the living daylights out of us don\'t they? Just like having children,
always expect the unexpected with these guys.
