Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | ![]() My 4 lb. yorkie has a lump on her right hip (about the size of a quarter). It's right about where her leg attaches to her body. It does not seem to be tender to the touch and it just popped up out of nowhere. She took a bad fall yesterday while running in the grass and flipped through the air. I'm wondering if it could be from that or might be something more serious?? I'm worried about my little munchkin!! She's only a year and a half so I don't know what it could be. Has this happened to anyone else? Do dogs get bumps like people when they fall?? Please help if you can!! |

| ![]() I think I would take her to get it checked out. It could be a hematoma or even could have damaged the joint. Dogs do not show pain like humans do. They can be hurting without showing any signs of it. It could be no more than muscle swelling, but I would be safe than sorry and get her checked out.

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | ![]() Thanks so much for your reply! I have kind of been watching her and she seems to be walking a little different so I think it might be something with her joint like you said. I'll call the vet today. I heard yorkie's have a lot of joint problems and she's always jumping off the bed and couch etc. I think you're probably right, so I'm gonna get it checked out. Thanks again! |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | ![]() Probably best to take her in - it could just be from the fall, or a calcification, a hematoma, a cyst - it could be nothing, but definitely something to get looked at. ![]()

Donating YT 30K Club Member | ![]() Has she had a shot in that area recently? That happened to Pixie and I took her in and they confirmed it was from her recent shot. Hope Lola is ok.

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | ![]() ****UPDATE***** Ok, so thanks for everyone's advice! I did what you all said and took Lola to the vet today. They tested the lump and didn't get back any results ![]() However, I told him she limps a lot, and he confirmed that she has something wrong with her patellas (which I guess is pretty common in yorkies). He said she will probably have problems when she's older so they want me to think about surgery while she's young ![]() ![]() |

| ![]() It's called luxating patella....it can be hereditary or, it can be caused from injuries from jumping. Good luck with your baby! Glad she is feeling better!
