Krissy is on her way to the vet!!!!! I have had Krissy on a diet as she gained a few lbs. She should weigh around 9 lbs but she got up to 11.4. I still feed the same food just instead of free feeding I have hand fed all of my fur babies. Everyone but Krissy was fine with it. Krissy is getting 3/4 cup in the morning. 1/2 cup for lunch and 3/4 cup at dinner and you would think I starved her! Today she acted like she was starving so I gave her a cup of non-fat cottage cheese and she was gobbling it up. She fell down and jumped back up and ate more, she fell down again! This happened 4 times. My hubby is rushing her to the vet now - boy I wish I didn't have to work! I sure hope she is OK..:( |

She fell down?? Like flat on her side?? That is REALLY weird. I sure hope she's okay. :( |
OMG:eek:! That gave me goosebumps! I pray she will be perfectly fine! Oh goodness. You must be in a sheer panic! I pray Krissy will be well and will be looking for an update (constantly). My thoughts are with you guys. |
Sending thoughts/prayers for Krissy! I'm hoping everything will be ok. Pls keep us posted on her. Hugs! I know you are so worried, but thankfully she is on her way & they can figure out what's going on. |

Hope all goes well, hope she is ok |

That is so strange. Sending prayer's and good wishes for her. Hope she's ok, poor baby. It stinks you have to sit there and suffer until you hear from your hubby. Hope it's good news. |

Oh my gosh, I hope she is okay! Sending good thoughts and will hope for an update soon. |

Ok the vet feed her some dry food and watched her and she did the same thing. The vet said Krissy is gobbling the food so fast it is cutting off her air and making her fall. So much for a diet! This was too scary. Everything else is fine and she had blood work done a month ago which was fine. The vet said even at 11 lbs she is not fat and it seems to be alot of muscle weight so I can feed her more just give her it a very little at a time. Krissy never had food issues before but now all of a sudden this happened. Our vet is so awesome! They took her right in. The vet actually called and explained if she has always free fed and then that is stopped it can make some dogs panic, so that is what happened with Krissy. She will be getting 10 to 20 pieces of food hand fed ever hour until she settles down and doesn't think she will starve! Boy you think you know alot and learn more and more all the time - there little fur butts keep you on you toes!!! I am so relieved..... Thanks for caring - I was so in a panic over this! |

oh my goodness...the little piggy:p! What wonderful news!!!! That is soooo much better than anything else he may have told you:) Thanks for the update, I was really worried. |
Oh I'm so glad that Krissy is OK! Bless her little heart and bless yours. |
I just saw this and I am so glad she is alright:), these little guys and girls can scare you something terrible. |
Goodness gracious, I just saw this glad she is doing well:aimeeyork |
Please let us know how she is!:animal-pa |
Oh..So glad to hear she is doing well. What a scare.....Thank God for wonderful Vets......:animal36 |
Oh gosh, how scary!!! Glad you figured out what was happening. |
You could try putting her kibble in a Buster Cube. I used to do that with Lady to slow her down. She'd eat so fast she would bloat up and vomit if I didn't burp her like a baby. It's really slowed her down when she had to push her Buster Cube around to get the kibble. I am so glad Krissy is okay. I can't imagine how scary that was. |
Oh wow! I didn't even know that could happen! I'm so glad she's okay now. :) |
I am so glad it isn't anything serious. |
OK I'm gonna have a heart attack with the way Krissy is acting. We had dinner and my grandson didn'y know what was going on and he gave each dog a piece of pork roast. Krissy got so excited she fell down with her tongue hanging out. I yelled Krissy and she jumped up like what mom?? I swear tomorrow I'm gonna put out tons of food and if she overeats it will be better than this. It is just to scary!!!! Somehow I have to get her back to the way she was a few weeks ago when she just knew the food was there and didn't worry about it. |
Glad that she is ok. Oh boy her inner fat girl comes out when dinner come around. Poor baby. Just glad that she is ok and you can slow your heart rate. |
oh wow glad to hear shes better... |
So glad she is alright!! |
Poor little girl..... I'm just now seeing this - I'm sorry I missed it, but am glad to hear that Krissy isn't facing any type of serious illness.... But can you imagine?? Sweet girl.... like she's having panic attacks... anxiety over her food...... precious thing.... BRING ON THE BACON and give that girl a platter full!!! hahaha..... I agree with Miss Krissy... diets are overrated!! ;) Seriously though.... how scary that must be for you to see her like that.... I hope all returns to normal soon... wish I had some wonderful advice for you, but I just don't have a clue as to what to suggest. Anxiety medication maybe?? Just temporarily? Will be watching for updates.... kiss that little face for me! |
Have you tried feeding her somewhere private like the bathroom with the door closed so she can feel secure. At first I'm sure she'd still gobble it down but after awhile it might be calming for her. Just a thought. |
OK update on Krissy, I filled the bowl with the normal food they get again last night and Krissy ate it all and got sick after falling 6 times! I just couldn't watch. Even though the vet said she is fine I didn't get much sleep last night worrying about her. BUT this morning I refilled the bowl and Krissy slowly ate maybe a quarter of the bowl and walked away! I gave her so many kisses and hugs!! I guess if I want her to lose a pound it is longer walks and more running up and down the stairs. She is smelling the bowl of food as I write this just to make sure it is there :( I guess that is why I like the puppies I raised myself no issues at all with them. I couldn\'t find anything on the internet on this but I guess if she is calm she is OK. |
I\'m sorry she gave you such a scare! I had to giggle once I saw that everything was ok. What a little porker! |
Have you thought about some of the really good quality lower fat/calorie foods? Maybe you can give her the same amount, but she can still lose a pound or so? |
They even have low calorie snacks. I bought them once for my grandpup, Harley, a pug with enough weight on him to never eat again. My vet had them. I never heard of such a thing, poor baby. Thank heavens it wasn\'t anything life threatening. Was she a rescue Jeri? |
Wow thats the first time I have ever heard of that. That would have scared the living daylights out of me too. Good thoughts and prayers that she doesnt have any more episodes |
Wow, how scary that must be to watch! I can\'t even imagine..poor little girl.:( |
