pebbles is coughing and snorting a lot the past few days... I dont know what to make of it... i know this might sound silly but can dogs catch colds??

dogs can get upper respiratory infections. i'd take him to the vet to get him checked out and put on ABs if he needs them.

I'd say anything's possible. It was once thought that furkids couldn't get the flu, but now it's been proven they can. Sounds like a trip to the vet is in order. Good luck and I hope your furbaby feels better soon.

the actual same flu that people get?? they can get that??

I was asking because I currently have a cold with the same symptoms and out of nowhere she is coughing and stuff

no dogs cannot get colds from people.

My vet told me last year that many people say that canines cannot get the flu us humans do but he's seen enough of it in his patience to know they can. Better to be safe than sorry, I'd go to the vet.

i read those articles and unless i skipped over it, it doesn't say that the flu is the same strain that effects humans. yes dogs can get the flu and people can get the flu but they are different strains. people can't get the flu from their dog and vise versa.

dogs can get tonsilitis from humans but not a cold. Didn't you recently take her to a training class at petco? She might have caught something from one of the dogs there.

Yes...London once was weezing kinda and making noise so i took her to the vet and they said she had a respiratory infection and gave me antibiotics and it went away. So yes they can get doggy colds but not colds from people.

this is just an update... i took pebbles to the vet and they said she has kennel cough and gave me antibiotics to give her twice a day for ten days...

Now this concerns me because Jack has been coughing or sneezing.... I'm not really sure which it is because his mouth is open no matter what. But he is on antibotics right now for an infection they found in his urine. He got his first round of bordetella vaccination and get his second round on the 5th. I brought it up when we took him in for his infection but the vet said his heart and lungs sound fine. I am so confused what what he could be coughing/ sneezing about.

my vet said pebbles lungs sounded fine as well, but she still said she had kennel cough and put her on antibiotics... maybe he felt since he was already on some antibiotics it wasnt a big deal?? i dont know that sounds odd to me.. i would take him back on the 5th and say listen he is coughing a lot. has jack been around other puppies or dogs recently?? that is ususally how they get it

Educate yourself and buy from reputable breeders or rescue.
