My kipper just started crying really loud when he poops

Is there anything I could give him to soften his stools?

oh poor sweet boy. is he having a hard time pooping? If so give him pure plain pumpkin (comes in a can) if not.. if he is pooping ok... call the vet.. it could be something else.

ok thanks I'll try that today when I get home from work. But will he have really loose stools after that? Just so I can watch out for him going on the carpet

um.. probably not REALLY loose... canned pumpkin works well for both diarrhea and constipation so i can't see it making his poop REALLY loose... but keep in mind it won't be immediate.

ok thanks for your help

My husband called and told me when he cleaned him up right now that he has alittle blood there but only when he wiped it. I hope its nothing serious. I told him what you said and he is going to go get some pumkin from the store and doggie wipes to keep him clean back there.

what is the consistency of his poop? if it is diarrhea, blood is normal... if he had a really hard time getting it out... a bit of blood can be normal there too. If the pumpkin doens't work in 24 hours.. he should see a vet.

his poop is pretty solid all the time, that why I think he just needs something to soften it up alittle.
