please/ please get this baby to a new vet, You my loose this baby if you don't , I have a real concern about a vet that tells you to give salt

and not water! I do hope yur baby is ok, you are in my prayers

Thank you for all the posts and responses.

He is scheduled to have the liver test done next week. He has been acting normal since he went to the vet. I agree with the salt for dehydration comment that was made. Hard to believe the vet would suggest that. We were told it is going to be about $4-5K for all the tests once they have completed them. ALso getting a second opinion

$4000 to $5000 for tests? Did I read that right? Maybe for the entire surgery for liver shunt, but not just for the tests!

Go directly to a new vet. Do not pass go...do not collect... GO!

Oh my I hope your lil yorkie is okay..

My BF's mom gives her dogs frozen gatoraid cubes they love them.

Liver testing WITH surgery if that is necessary shouldn't even cost that much. A bile acid test is the first step (and maybe even the only one necessary) and that costs $50-$100.

The test part will not be over $150.

Shunt talk now and thinking about 5 grand is the "cart before the horse"

I have already been through what you are facing!

You can not wait till next week!

One thing for sure! You will lose this little fellow if you don't get him to a vet NOW.
