Oh NO! My sweet Sassy ate tin foil! I have these two rescue kittens and I had made them two little balls (squished and rolled up hard) from tin foil to bat around. They just love them. I never even considered that Sass would chew on/eat it! But she did. I don't know how much she might have eaten. It was still partly intact and there was quite a bit shredded up around where she was chewing it. I got none out of her mouth because there was none in hter. I don't know if she actually ate any of it or just chewed it up. I called the vet and am taking her in for x-rays tomorrow. Anybody else had a similar problem and if so, what did you do and how did it turn out? I am soooo distressed! |

I can't even believe it happened. I never thought for a minute that she would chew that ball of foil. It couldn't have smelled good. It was a brand new piece. Nothing to attract her and she isn't a 'chewer'....she almost never gets in trouble. :( My poor baby. |
Keep us updated on Sassy please! Hope everything goes well at her appt this morning :) |
These little stinkers will eat anything !! Let us know what they say and I really hope she passes whatever she did ingest on her own hugs girl !! |
Oh No!......I hope she is all okay, Sammi. Maybe she didn't eat enough to hurt her and it will just pass. The very thing you think she wouldn't be interested in chewing and she does....just like a yorkie.....silly dogs! Do keep us updated, please.:) |
Hopefully if she ate any it was a small amout and she will pass it ok. It always amazes me that these dogs can be so picky with dog food and then eat the strangest things!!!lol Let us know how she is doing |
Checking in on Sassy. Those little buggers sure know how to keep us on our toes. Hope the vet gives you the all clear and at worst you have some shiny poo to look for. |
So sorry! They will eat anything. Mine will, too. I have to watch her so closely when we're walking, because she will pick up anything at all. |
Oh good heavens! These little brats sure keep us going!!! My Izzy is the one here that will eat anything, I caught her with my son's leather belt yesterday. Fortunately she has a cast iron stomach! I hope your Sassy is A-OK:thumbup: Prayers on the way:hands: |
Any updates on the little girl? |
I am so sorry. I hope she will be okay. Kayla is going to turn my hair gray if she doesn't settle down. They will eat anything that doesn't eat them first. We have had a couple of major scares too. Praying for your baby. |
Thanks to everyone for your expressions of concern. I couldn't get an appointment until 3:40 pacific time, so we will be leaving shortly. When I called the vet they said either x-ray or wait and see if she passes it on her own. I can't take the chance that it will all come out and any chance of intestinal blockage scares the beejeebees outa me. So I opted for the x-ray because if I didn't and something hapened to her and she suffered because of me, well....you know. It would kill me, I think. I will post as soon as we get back home, and once again....thank you all so much! |
Praying she is ok.... |
Glad to hear you got her in to the Vet. I'll check back for an update :) |
Okay...we are back with the results of the x-rays: She did ingest some. There is a mass that looks like is is ready to be expelled very soon. There is one small piece higher up but the vet says she doesn't think it will be a problem. She gave me a list of symptoms to be aware of in the event that it does. I am soo very relieved. Hopefully, it will all just pass through and no surgery will be needed. Thanks again for all of your concern and support. It is tremendously appreciated! |
:aimeeyork I hope Sassy will be ok, and pass the tin foil without any problems. Suzi tears up everything she can, and she is quite clever too. I have to keep the bathroom door closed because she goes for the TP. every time! :aimeeyork |
Glad to hear it might pass without surgery. Marcel got into an SOS pad once - and omg I was so worried. The vet didn't want to do much, just watch him bc we just were not sure how much he actually ingested. He did have funny poos for about 1 mth afterward - so, just fyi - there could be some funky things going on for a while if his intestine is irritated. Hope everything goes well. |
Sammi, I just stumbled upon this thread! Little Sassy is a real stinker. I am so very glad that she is ok and that there aren't any blockages. Geez, what these little ones can get into to make our hearts flip! I will keep both of you in my thoughts and prayers. You will soon have something to add to the "oddest thing your Yorkie has ever pooped" thread. |

Thank you so much. It has definitely made for a 'different' kind of day. It was, however, interesting to see the x-rays of her little body. Expensive, too. :p |

I am glad it all 'worked out' for Marcel. I think I will tell Sassy to hurry up, though. A month of worry is way too much! My hair is just fine with the little bit of gray. I don't want it all gray just yet. ;) |
Glad to hear Sassy is ok! Are you supposed to kind of check for it to make sure it comes out ;) just wondering, I have had to do that with my skin kids before when they ate the wrong stuff. Our ped had us basically feel through the poop for a couple of days. Finally about day 3 we found what we were looking for, a small plastic ball that went to a toy lol! How sad a mothers life is :) |

She ate a regular dinner tonight but nothing yet. Poor baby. The vet said she may have a little trouble passing it. :( I had a trainer for my Pom that told me he had a big dog for training and was amazed to watch it poo a v-e-r-y long piece of tarp. He ate the tarp and the owner couldn't figure out where it went until the trainer 'reported in' about it. Amazing what they eat. I guess I should just be thankful she isn't a horse. :p |

Just saw this post. How is Sassy and the "Pooh Patrol" going? Don't forget there is alway Lady Clairol...hoping for a good outcome...literally!!!! |

She hasn't gone yet. I will be calling the vet soon about it. She doesn't seem to be distressed in any way and still eating. The pumpkin had absolutely NO effect. :( |
