| Poor baby...I will be praying for him...How did they find out he was losing protein? Was it with the urinalysis? or was it the bloodwork?

| It was through the bloodwork. The urinalysis results we'll get back tomorrow. Thank you everyone for your prayers!

| I spoke with the doctor this morning and they said they will offer Sam food today and see how he does with that, but that he is now having a little bit of trouble with his breathing. They are going to do another ultrasound to check that again and either take the fluid out or try tapping his lungs to get it out and see if that helps. I asked about his protein levels and they said that the trend has been that they are rising so they haven't checked yet today. I just called about half and hour ago and am waiting to hear back again. If he eats today and his breathing is normal, I am going to get him tonight, but if not he's staying again...I miss him so much

| We were able to bring Sam home tonight! He looks so much better than the other night...still having loose stool, but so far no vomiting. We gave him a carrot and some rice and gave him his medicine. Right now we're just praying he keeps it down. They put him on Royal Canine high fiber low fat food after the 2-3 days of having him on a bland diet (chicken, rice, carrot, maybe baby food). If all goes well, he goes back to the vet in 5-7 days to have his protein levels checked and maybe a chest x-ray to make sure the fluid is completely gone. The doctors think this was all related to the pancreatitis. His urine analysis came back normal so kidney functions are good. Next week we'll get back the results for the urine culture and the fluid that was around his lung. I'm hoping and praying that we've finally overcome this and the next few days will be even better. His spirits are up and you can tell he's just so happy to be home. If we let him he'd probably eat a million carrots, but I need to be a strict mommy from now on! Thank you again for all of your prayers and I will keep you posted

| well after I typed the update about bringing Sam home, I went back by his side and he got up, had diarrhea, and came back to the couch and started shaking and breathing heavily and moaning. He looked like he was in so much pain. Now remember, he's been on pain meds up until we took him home last night, so they must have worn off and his first meal was trying to digest, causing his pancreas to flip out. My mom and I took him to the emergency vet in Mt. Laurel and they ended up giving him a shot of pain meds and we made our way (an hour and 1/2) back to Red Bank at 2:30am . By the time we got there he wasn't moaning and his breathing seemed to be better. The doctors are wonderful there and prescribed pain meds to go home with so each time he's having that kind of episode (which they said will happen for the first couple days of eating until his system readjusts) to give the medicine. The positive is that he ate that carrot and rice at 10pm and kept it down all night! He's had some bouts of diarrhea, but that's expected. My main goal is to manage the pain and keep him hydrated at this point.Does anyone know what amount of water is adequate enough for a 7 lb yorkie? I've been giving him in a dropper about 1 tsp every 1-2 hrs. He's not taking it on his own much b/c the pain meds make him drowsy. He's not really interested in eating now either. Once again, I will keep you all posted.
