| Babybear is having problems with his neck Hi there everyone,, Many of you have followed the story of Babybear and his Atlantoaxial Instability(AAI) how he had his surgery and all.. Well we are coming up on 2 years on July 29..Yesterday morning I woke and fed and gave him his milk as usual.. He was barking at something outside and then started to cry..I checked him all over and he was fine..So I went back to the kitchen to finish doing what I was doing.. He heard something again and again barked then cried.. I checked him again.. He was fine.. I then rubbed him all over and he winched when I touched his neck(heart breaking when he did this). I told my husband that after breakfast I would draw him a bath and soak him in the sink to see if this would do anything.. I put him in the sink he was fine until he moved his neck and he cried..I took him out and dried him carefully when I got to his neck he winched and cried again.. But he kept trying to stand up.. When he originally broke his neck he could not do anything.. no movement of any limbs.. He is still trying to do all the same things as usual.. He winches and cries if he makes the wrong move.. I have been in contact with Doc Paul his vet, the only thing is Doc Paul can not see him until tomorrow and I will not let anyone else touch him.. I have been through way to much with Babybear to allow someone else to give me a wrong diagnoses.. I am hoping at this point it is just a cold in his neck(Saturday night we slept with the window open and the fan blowing on us.. It ended up being wet and damp and cold out.. Babybear got out from under his covers that night more than once.. I covered him a few times and so did hubby..I know he has done nothing to hurt himself.. There is someone with him 24/7 watching him like a hawk.. He was playful Saturday night before he went to bed.. Doc Paul seems to think possible cold in his neck or pulled muscle.. He told me to start him on rimadyl or Steriodes if I had them.. (of Course I don't) Babybear has not needed any meds since his surgery.. So anythign I had I threw out last year..So Doc Paul told me to keep moist heat on him.. That is what I have been doing.. Please keep Babybear in your prayers.. At this point hubby has informed me if Babybear needs surgery for this again we can not afford it and will have to send him to the bridge.. Believe me I will do my best to prevent this from happening.. And so will Doc Paul.. SO please keep him in your thoughts and prayers we really need them right now..

| Hey Val My heart skipped a beat when I read this. Please, if you need anything or just an ear to listen, do not hesitate to contact me. I still worry every day about Sedrick and whether or not a re injury is possible. One thing that I wonder about and I have yet to be given an answer on...could it be possible to develop arthritis in the c1 c2 vertebrae? I think yes. Quite possibly, this could also be a scenario to be looked at especially when you said the weather was cool. Just know that you are in our thoughts and prayers and again, if there is anything I can do, please contact me. Lorraine and the Monkeyboyz (sedrick and Doogan) |

| Thank you so much everyone.. I just got done doing a 15 minute moist heat treatment on him and a massage to hopefully loosen him up a bit.. I know all you Yorkie prayers will help him through this.. Lorriane(Bakerlady) Yes you are right about the arthiritis. I have talked to Doc Paul about this and he did say that these pups that broke thier necks or had surgery on their bones. These pups will get arthiritis in their bones it is just a matter of time.. I will keep you all updated and thank you so much for all the prayers and you get well wishes.. I will give him some soft Yorkie talk kisses..

| Val, I am praying with all my heart that Babybear will be ok. Your little boy has fought like a lion to get to where he is today and I don't think any person could accompolish what he has in his little life. God Bless and watch over this tiny soul and please keep him from any harm. Hugs to you all.
