| ![]() Oh! I hope not! When My Snoodles had a stroke or some brain injury--it was never really determined--she kept going around in circles and circles. She couldn't stop it, and she would bang her head. The vet said the one thing they look for is the circling to indicate something wrong with the brain. I wonder if she has vestubular desease? They will hold their head to one side like that and be wobbly because their sense of balance is off because of it. Am anxiously awaiting what they have decided. Please let us know immediately! You will be in my prayers! Pat |

| ![]() I am also praying. I hope that you find out what is wrong soon so that she can be treated. I'm so sorry you are going through this. The stress of knowing your baby is sick and the stress of the mounting medical bills is a lot to handle all at once. I've been there and hope things look up for you and your baby soon.

When my Maltese was 16, he started getting weak and clumsy, he fell off of the sofa and hit his head on the tile, he started running to corners of the walls and pushing his head in, or behind furniture. It was so pitiful, the Doctor said that she didn't really know but we should probably put him to sleep, I didn't, then he couldn't even stand up to eat without his legs slipping out from under him and peeing, had him put to sleep, the doctor thought it was a brain injury or tumor on the brain. ![]()

| ![]() Hello everyone. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Well the doctor just called and said they got a blood sample from Mattie this morning. They had to do a fasting for 12 hours and then feed her and take more blood. They said they had to force feed her because she wouldn't eat, and give her more water under the skin. They said the blood test will be sent to MSU (Michigan State University) to check for Bile acids and Liver Shunt. She said I can take her home this evening. They still have her on Antibiotics and Lactose (sp). I am so worried. I noticed last night she was really stumbling bad and she couldn't go potty without laying on the poo. I had to clean her all up. She couldn't hold herself up to go poo even. They are taking all kinds of test.. She had the MRI and they are waiting on the results for that also. She isn't running a fever anymore and she is alert they said. So its a waiting game. I hate that but I do trust my vet. MSU is a great place also. So I will keep you all informed as soon as I hear anything. Thanks! Keep the prayers going!

| ![]() Thanks for the update...I've been thinking of little Mattie...She is absolutely adorable!!! Did the vet tell you the importance of the lactulose? If her stumbling is being caused by liver problems, the lactulose is absolutely at leaimperative. The daily dosage should be split up into at least 3 doses per day. So, if 9cc were prescribed, then 3 cc should be given 3x/day. The goal with the lactulose is to get your baby to have at least 2 *soft* bowel movements per day. Stools should not be firm, but not diarrhea. If this is not being achieved, the lactulose should be increased or decreased to get these results. Lactulose is very safe and the only side effect is diarrhea...If your baby is not having these 2 soft stools per day, you will see more symptoms. Protein turns to ammonia in the body and the liver is supposed to filter the ammonia, but when there is a liver problem, the liver is not able to filter the ammonia and the ammonia enters the blood system. This is the equivalent of having a poison/toxin circulating through their system. This is what causes the inappetance, neurological symptoms, disorientation, inability to walk correctly, etc. The lactulose literally binds the toxins and pulls them from the bloodstream into the colon so that it can be eliminated from the body. Also important to keep in mind...The smaller and more frequent the meals, the better off she will be. Even if you can only give her a tsp at a time, it's best to give 4-6 meals per day because it lightens the load on the liver. Too much food at one time will cause an overload in protein, make her feel sick, and make her refuse food at the next meal time. That's why smaller, more frequent meals are recommended for dogs with such symptoms like your baby has.

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | ![]() Brenda, I'm so sorry, you and your husband are going through all this. I know it seems hopeless right now, jus take a deep breath, and take it one day at a time. The tests will hopefully be negative and maybe she just needs some rest and fluids. We'll all be praying for you and your little one.

| ![]() Prayers going up for little Mattie. What a sweet baby. That is such a darling little face. Just hold on to your faith. Tina had Wellingbrand's disease and was litterally at death's door. I even had our church pray for her. Prayer changes things. She is fine and we have not had to do the weekly blood tests for a long time. Her count is staying where it should be. Just keep praying for that baby. |

| ![]() We continue to pray for precious Mattie.... seeing her pictures just made me cry all over again!! Now, to all of you who have experienced LS or even the brain lesion that Brenda mentioned.... is it common for the baby to run a fever with these conditions? I couldn't help but keep going over the fact that it was mentioned that Mattie had been running a fever...... and maybe it's only wishful thinking, but an inner ear infection (along with hypoglycemic issues and dehydration from not eating/drinking) could potentially cause ALL of the symptoms she's been having. I'm sure the Dr wouldn't have overlooked such a common thing, and likely, any type of infection would have shown elevations in the blood testing.... (but then again, if the blood tests were all normal, why the antibiotics?). ANY tiny little "bug" that would be an "easy fix" with most dogs, is so dibilitating to our tiny ones.... and easily mistaken for the more "feared" condition of "tinies"... It couldn't hurt to bring it to the doctor's attention, right? We'll be keeping our fingers, toes and paws crossed!!
