| Something's wrong.. I'm really worried, and I didn't see another thread that this would really go under. Gizmo has a Large red place under his right underarm area like he's scratched so much it's raw. There is also another place close to it as well but not as large. I haven't used anything different but worried that he has gotten into my garbage when I was gathering it up and was eating things out of it when I caught him. I'm hoping it's something as simple as his skin drying out because I try to bathe him once a week. I gave him one this evening because we were all out playing today and my daughters friend had a tick in her hair. I checked Gizmo didn't see any but thought I had seen a flea (small brown with wings ..dunno what it was really) But he had his Frontline Plus just a few weeks ago. He scatches himself a lot but I haven't seen anything on him before or after the incident today. Any suggestions? I'm worried

| I would watch him, it is most likely dry skin. It could be a bug bite also that he has been scratching. When Bailey's skin gets really dry I put a small amount of conditioner & water in a spray bottle and spray her down and rub it in to her skin. She likes it & it really soothes her skin.

| You might try clear aloe gel or Gold Bond medicated powder. Both are very soothing. |

| It might be an irritation from something outside. You might try gently rubbing in a dab of Benadryl cream. This will help stop the itching/scratching and if it dies not clear up in in few day go see the vet. That used to work for my dog. It relieved the itch which stopped her from scratching and making it worse.

| thanks everyone for the replies. I checked his ears and they are clean and clear. I also haven't had him to the groomers yet so it wouldn't be that. I do however blow-dry his hair myself but I shut the bathroom door and he lays on my bathroom rug and i stand at a distance blowdrying him switching over to cool air every few minutes. I also was freaked out this morning because as I was petting on him when my hubby left for work i felt a little knot. I turned on the light and lo and behold a tick was on his neck around the collar area. I got it out and checked him again and found another one on the underside of his neck in the collar area and I thought for sure I had checked him well last night. But I guess not well enough I got both out put him in the bathroom shut the door and sprayed down the rest of my house and the outside of my house with Ortho bug spray. I guess I'll be keeping him indoors for a while to make sure we don't bring anymore ticks in the house. They freak me out! I've never had one on me before *knock on wood* and I checked all my kids and they don't have any thank goodness. As for his red spots, they are lightening up a bit, but I put one of his shirts on that covers the places he's been scratching and that seems to help a little. I will try the creams you all suggested and maybe some benadryl if it gets worse. Thanks again everyone for answers. If it doesn't go away in a couple days we'll just head to the vet to make sure everything is okay.

| These could be "hot spots" usually caused by allergies. My sister's yorkie got them every time he went into the grass especially in the spring |
