What is Madison's diagnosis? I hope it is nothing too serious! But be rest assured, this diet will really help. It alleviated Mango's symptoms from the first 24 hours she was on it. --------------------------------- Thank you all so much for your kind messages about me sweet girl! Lauren:) |

thank you for sending me that. the specialist did tell me that he preferred amoxicillian because he did not like the side effects with the metro. He said that given in high dosages could cause neuroligical problems. The metro has always helped in the past, so we decided to not use the amoxicillan and opted for the metro. sadie always seemed to get diar from other antibiotics. I was nervous that this would happen so we had them fill the metro last week. I still have the amox because I went to pick it up when they prescribed it but never ended up using it. The funny thing is is the metro is helping.... but- it isn't doing what it used to do, and that was form much harder stools. I am still wetting the food just not over saturating it. Simply because they still swallow it whole and the thought of them doing that makes me crazy. It cannot be good for them at all. They have a ravenous appetite when it comes to feeding time it's crazy. Sadie's stomach isn't growling and making loud noises like it was a week ago tonight. When she ate a ravelled piece of the berber runner last week it really caused a number on her. (I tell ya- these dogs are making me crazy anymore!!!) LOL... I have been giving the rx zyme but I really do not know if it is making that much of a difference. I also started sprinking 1/4 teas of benefiber on their food as well. I honestly think that it may be what is making the stools more formed. ??? I ordered bnaturals Bertes Zyme and the Digestion Blend. I am going to try the digestive blend and discontinue the rx zyme. the rx zyme contains cinnamon probably to mask the taste. (it is a little bitter- i tasted a tad of it) :-) we are going to give this a few weeks and see what happens. Otherwise, I am on vacation the last week in May and will call Susan Davis. I am really worried about this home cooking.. I really am hoping the wellness she is on and the digestive enzymes will help. Otherwise I will be at the same place you were a year ago wracking my brain for the last time. I joined a yahoo kidneydiet support group as well and currently am waiting to hear back from them. It seems there are others that are experiencing the same as us with the renal loss, high BUN, raised amylase/lipase/pancreatitis/ibd issues. I will keep you posted. thanks for sending the metro link. it really explains in more detail the effects and i can tell you that after tomorrow it will be a full 7 days she will have been on it. And that will be the last day. just curious about how you feel about the amox. I cannot remember if she got bad diar from it or not? scared to find out kinda ya know. but...maybe it will help her. I guess we could always disc if it makes worse. I sometimes thing the rx zyme too is helping the stomach grumbling noises. Maybe i was expecting it to also help with the stools. you don't know this... but each morning I wait for the poos to happen and I run out to look at them. And then...I think to myself... this is exactly what Ann used to do!!! :-) sorry if this is a mess of a response- i am rushing bc my hubby is waiting on me to watch a tv show. i think he is ready to unplug the computer :-) always reading something- always researching....driving him and I both crazy with this all.. :-) |
I think i read somewhere on here that you told someone to go to the health food store to buy refrigerated probiotics. i went to the store today and they had a refrig section but I had no idea which one to get??? they had a bunch of refrig ones with 1 million mg's of each ingredient and I thought it was so high amounts i didn't want to mess with it. that's why I ordered the bnaturals tonight because it seems like it is some really good stuff. The way i see it... it can't hurt. let me know if you have any info on those the Bertes Zyme (100 caps) and the Digestion Blend (1 lb) have a good night- :-) |

I hear you on the metro - it can help for a while, then *poof*, the opposite. Oddly, amox can help too - I really think it just helps calm inflammation, oddly. And/or, any rogue overgrowth in the intestines that isn't exactly an infection, per se, but irritating nonetheless. Just did some searching and found some awesome info for you. Btw, I used to give Marcel a 1/2 cap of probiotic a day (whichever size you get will really be fine - just get something with 5-7 organisms or so): ""In general, it is highly recommended that probiotics be refrigerated to maximally preserve their viability over time. Probiotics that have been microencapsulated with fatty acids are the only exception and do not need to be refrigerated. Probiotics sold in retail stores are often not refrigerated. Consequently, industry and consumer studies have found that 30 to 50% of probiotic products available in retail stores contain significantly less viable microorganisms than claimed on their labels. Although most probiotics should be refrigerated, they do not spoil or die-off quickly at room temperature. They may be left at room temperature for days and even weeks without a great loss of viable organisms. They should not be subjected to high temperatures for prolonged periods of time. The graphs illustrate microbial viability for selected probiotic strains over time at 4°C (39°F), 23°C (73°F) and 30°C (86°F) and show that survival is better at low temperatures than high temperatures. At room temperature (23°C), colony counts begin diminishing after one to two months explaining why so many over the-counter retail probiotic products do not contain the labeled amounts of viable probiotics. The charts also show that certain strains, such as L.rhamnosus, are more temperature-vulnerable than others. However, leaving probiotics out at room temperature or even warm temperatures for a few hours or even a few days will only result in small losses of organisms. Although probiotics should be shipped with cold packs, there is no cause for concern or worry if the cold pack has melted by the time of delivery."" |
it was this one that I looked at... Multidophilus (Non-Dairy) by Solaray - VitaminShoppe.com Solaray Multidophilus (Non-Dairy) 100 Capsules not sure if this will work? it did day not to give 2 hours after antibiotics on the bottle too. |
pb 8 PRO-BIOTIC ACIDOPHILUS I purchased this today and it is supposed to protect against 8 diff threads? Lactobacillus plantarum, lactobacillus acidophilus, lactobacilus casei, lactobacacilus paracasei, salivaruis, bifidobacterium bifidum and bifidobacterium longum. I have not given Metro since this morning. Not sure if i should wait a good 24 hours with no metro or not. I am scared to give it but excited to see if it could help with the stools. |
Oh Lauren, I am just now seeing this thread and although I am not sure exactly what is going on, I just wanted to say that I hope little Mango is ok??? :( I will be keeping her in my thoughts and prayers! :hands: |
