Wow! I've hardly been on my 'puter today, and tonight I find all your sweet messages!:D
Well, the diet Mango was put on, is working wonders for my little girl. She has not thrown up once in the past 3 days, this after almost a week of constant vomiting. It just shows me all the more how important following a specific diet can be relating to certain illnesses. Before this, being ignorant of the cause, I kept feeding her the raw, and Mango was just incapable of digesting the fat in it. Argh!! I felt like such a bad, bad Mommy. Anyway, it looks like she will be on this fish,potato, veggie mixture for at least 3 weeks.
A funny side note to this. Besides the many health, dental benefits of the raw diet, as we all know, our babies make teeny poops when on it. Well, since Saturday, my little Mango is pooping out the volume of a Great Dane, I swear!:2omg:

I am trying to get my schedule in order so that I could call her for diet info too!!! Did you talk to her Friday evening? just curious bc a Friday evening would be great for me to talk to her. I am usually home by 7pm on fridays. My work schedule is crazy and I never know until that day what time I will be home. I don't want to book with her and then have to cancel.

It was actually not possible to get an accurate read on her Amy/lypase levels because the Enzyme and Probiotic supplement I was giving her twice daily, made that impossible (who knew?), altering a true reading.
If you can organize the time, I cannot recommend Susan Davis highly enough.:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup: Nothing, but nothing was working with Mango, not the meds the Vet prescribed, and not the diet (or lack thereof) he put her on. Whatever she ate, just came right back up again. The pools of vomit were almost the size of her entire body; was truly frightening for me, especially when I saw her weight dropping so rapidly. Since Saturday, she is like a different dog. Susan also sent me today 2 special supplements, one to help the body digest protein/fat, and the other to reduce inflammation.
If you are having concerns, this is the lady to go to. I spoke with her for an hour and felt so relieved afterwards, it was like a weight lifting off my chest.

Hey Lauren, is the consultation expensive? Wondering if she would have suggestions for Winston and his constant battle with hypoglycemic/seizures. With the frequent feedings to keep his sugar up...he is putting on the poundage...and I'm almost afraid to walk him too often or too far...because exercise will lower blood sugar too. He simply needs a food that has enough carbohydrate and protein with less fat.
Sorry, didn't mean to hijack Mango's thread, but I'm curious about Susan Davis. How does a person get a consult with her? Is a referral needed? She does this all by phone?
I really think I need to consult with her...

That was EXACTLY how I felt when I talked with her way back when about Marcel. So glad to hear 'lil Mango is on the mend. We love us some Susan Davis! :D

She is WONDERFUL! I consulted w/ her almost a year ago. You can find her at Susan Davis. She works by phone if you're not near her - no referral needed. She turned Marcel right around - I don't know what I would have done without her. This was after 100s at the vet, to no avail. Tell her Ann, Marcel and Lauren sent you - and she'll get a kick out of that one - bc it really is a small world here on YT....

Aw Lauren, sorry to hear that Mango was so desperately ill. But VERY glad to see that it seems she is now doing so much better.

Lauren, I'm so sorry I never saw this thread until Wylie's mom referred me to it! I had no idea little Mango was so sick! And how horrifying for you to see her losing weight so rapidly and vomiting. I've had something similar going on with Madison the past couple of weeks too, not quite to your extent though. It's such a draining and helpless feeling!

I hope Mango is feeling much better by now and I'm so glad that you found someone who could help. It's even worse when you take them to the vet and nothing is helping. Thank goodness for YT and the members who are so generous with their experience and knowledge!

Please let us know how Mango continues to improve! I'm going to start Madison on this same diet too, and it will be interesting to see what the vet has to say. We'll keep you and Mango in our prayers! All the best~

I hope Mango is doing better! I know you are thrilled with the "great dane" poops. But anything is an improvement, as long as she is eating and growing stronger.
