Thank you so much for posting this. Mango seems slightly better today, but the vomiting has not stopped entirely yet. Her blood work was normal, so the Vet is clueless as to what has caused this. Her weight has dropped, and I am still very worried about her. I am waiting for a return call from a Holistic Vet, for another opinion. Hugs, Lauren |
Patti, you are so sweet. Lauren, my prayers and hugs to you and Mango. Will keep in touch. Sheilagh |
Prayers for you all!!! |

Hi there! I'm so sorry your furbaby is sick. :( You might want to start a new thread so that more people can see it and respond. Include as many details as you can. YTers have a lot of experience and can be very informative. Good luck and prayers headed your way. |

Scooter and I are keeping Mango in our prayers. We hope she is better real soon.:animal36 |
Thank you all so much! I have just gotten off the phone with the office of an Holistic Vet/nutritionist. I am hoping to have at least a telephone conversation with her tomorrow. Mango has lost SO much weight in the past few days and her current Vet is unable to make a diagnosis, therefore cannot really treat her, other than with anti-nausea shots. He seemed to think it could be connected to her change in diet (to the NV Raw), but I doubt it, as the symptoms presented themselves the first time before the switch:( Hopefully tonight, I will receive an email with a date and time for tomorrow for that consult. Thank you all again, for looking in on my little girl, Lauren |

Praying for your little one ! |
We'll be thinking of you and praying for you and Mango. Please keep us updated! |
Quick update before bed. Mango is throwing up less today, but has not eaten any "dog" food, just potato, which seems to have soothed her tummy. I have an appointment with a Nutritionist tomorrow. She is associated with an excellent holistic Vet I was referred to. I hope she has answers for us because I have countless questions. I simply have to find the reason why my little girl suddenly seems incapable of keeping down her food. And somehow, I feel the need for "ammunition" to educate my own Vet. Thank goodness for so many other Yorkie lovers who love their babies as much as I do.:animal-pa:animal-pa:animal-pa:animal-pa Lauren |
Hoping you find out what is going on with poor little Mango :( In the meantime, please give Mango a :big_hug: for us and know we are thinking of you both! :getwell: Mango! :ghug: |
Lauren, I will be very interested in hearing what type of information and help nurtritionist will give you. Good luck and hugs .... Janie |
Update on Mango. The good news is that I have a diagnosis. The bad news is that the Pancreatitis has returned. It can apparently reoccur when a dog is under extreme stress, and obviously the Spay surgery would qualify. I had a consultation today with the most amazing lady by the name of Susan Davis. We spoke for an hour; she analyzed every single aspect of Mango's health records and diet, basically from when I adopted her. Very thorough lady this.:thumbup: She has taken Mango off the Raw diet completely, but I should add she is a huge fan of this. However, for Mango, it is not possible for her to digest in the immediate future.:( One really happy note and co-incidence. I was given the referral to Susan by a lady who lives near me(Corinne on YT), in Calif. When I was talking to Susan, I asked her about diet suggestions I had received here on YorkieTalk, specifically the "white fish, white potato" diet recommended to my by Anne, (Wylie's Mom). As soon as I mention the diet description, the nutritionist says "Hmmmm sounds like the one I gave to a member on YT....her UserName is "Wylie's Mom", do you know of her?" :eek:Well I said, "DUH! and OMG! Who do you think I go to for nutritional advice in the first place?" :eek:Anne, bless her, had been giving me advice all of this week, having no clue that the appointment I had today was with the very same lady that had treated her little Marcel. What an amazingly small world! Anyway, that gave me even more confidence in my choice of Nutritionist.:thumbup::thumbup: So now I start tonight with the new diet, watch and wait to see if my baby can keep it down. She has only had mash potatoes for the last 3 days, poor thing. She gobbled it right up, which is a great sign, fussy eater that she is. Thanks for the concern; it is so very much appreciated, Lauren:) P.S. I have learned one important lesson here. The average Vet knows frighteningly little about nutrition!! The diet is key in not only the cure, but prolonging a healthy life as well. Vet prescribed medication is not even half the cure. |

Mango is in good hands!!!! |
Lauren, I tried a white fish and potato home cooked recipe on Chloe back when she wasn't eating and her bile acid test came out low-high. I had found one on the internet, but then tweaked it a bit. It is probably the same one. What was convenient was that Albertsons sells these individually frozen 4oz Cod fillets for only $1 each. The were very easy to keep on hand for making up a week's batch at a time, and the price was right too. If you need bone meal, I have an entire container of Solid Gold steamed bonemeal. You'll probably be needing some if you'll be doing homecooked for a while. Just let me know and it's yours. |
all our love and prayers go to you Lauren for Mango's speedy recovery.. We want sweet Mango to be better really fast. xxoo  :kiss2: |

She is limited to Fish, white potato, veggies for the next 3 weeks. After that I have another consultation and I will ask about the bone meal. Thank you! Lauren:) |

Lauren, we are so thankful you got help with the nutritionalist. We pray with special diet that she won't have any more attacks of the pancreatitis. I would be interested in knowing what Little Mango's diet will consist of. I agree on the vets needing to be more up on nutrition. We are just so thankful through Corinne you were able to get consultation with this nutritionalist. Hugs, Jack and Patti |
Thanks for the updates! I've been thinking about you two! I'm glad that you now have an answer, so that you can find solutions and move forward! My two have eaten the white fish/potato/green bean diet when they've had upset tummies, and they did well on it and LOVE it too! Best wishes from us :) |

Yep, it's been a frustrating week, but hopefully now, what my Vet lacks in nutrition knowledge, will be balanced by Susan Davis. Mango's diet in a nutshell consists of White Fish (baked), white potato (mashed), yellow squash, green beans (both steamed and pureed) This diet, which is so often recommended by Anne (Wylie'sMom), is apparently excellent for the digestion after any kind of inflammation caused by a variety of illnesses. Mano at the moment, cannot tolerate any fat. But if all goes well, after one week on the above, I can slowly introduce Salmon into her fish portion. This will add a little fat to her diet that is easy to digest. Let me know if you need any other information. I am happy to share it with you. Big hugs to you, Jack and the furbutts, Lauren:) |
