| Syndey has ear prob & major itching! HELP! Hello all! This is my very first post. I just found this site this evening while looking for some answers to help my little Yorkie baby until I can get her to a vet. Any help would be tremendously appreciated! It started about a week ago- Sydney is 14 weeks old. She started itching a whole lot, so I bought some Puppy Flea spray and applied it with cotton balls like it said on the bottle. That seemed to have made it worse, so I bathed her a few times with nothing but water, trying to get it off her skin. Since then, she has itched like crazy and made little scabs all over the place. Her head is getting bald spots from being scratched so much! Now, 2 days ago she started messing with one of her ears. She is scratching it so much it makes her yelp and cry! It is breaking my heart because I don't know what to do. I cannot even open the ear to look inside or smell, since I know it could be a yeast infection or mites... she just cries and twists away. I don't want to hurt her... but I cannot get her to the vet until Thursday... I know it's terrible to wait, but I cannot miss time from my job or I will get fired My question is: has anyone had this type of thing happen and maybe know something I can do to make her more comfortable? Do you think Benadryl would help the itching? Any other ideas? I swear I am desperate and will try anything. I feel like just the worst puppy mama ever... Help! Thanks!! | I posted a reply in my thread which you should check out. It sounds like she has scabbies. Do you have anyone who can take her to the vet for you or maybe you can contact the breeder / pet store? |

| Thank you!! Unfortunately, you may be right on with your answer! I think I am just going to have to miss work and take her. Until I started reading these posts I never put 2+2 together about me being so itchy as well... Thank you so much for the very detailed answer on your post... really appreciate it! I will let you know what happens at the vet. Rhonda Syndey's Mama NashVegas, TN |
