Donating YT 30K Club Member | Praying Bubba just has a tummy upset not pancreatitis. Mine get upsets like that now and then and meds from the vet clear it up pretty quickly. Mine have even pooped pure blood and mucous and the medicine clears it up.

| Sorry to hear that Bubba is not well. It sounds like maybe he ate something that did not agree with him. In January, Zander had some vomiting and diarrhea, the vet diagnosed him as having a gastric irritation, bacterial or like we get stomach virus. He was put on antibiotic and he was better. The vet wanted to put him on a the id food, I looked on YT and found a recipe to help stop the diarrhea, it was white potatoes, white fish and 1 teaspoon mushed green beans, it worked for Zander.

| We're back from the vet - hopefully, I just had a huge overaction. It's just that I thought Bubba could have had pork, he had been doing panting, vomiting & had diarrhea - all signs of the pancreatitis. My vet is so laid back - he's a traditionally trained vet turned acupuncturist/holistic vet. As noted before we had been traveling. We met another yorkie in a gas station parking lot in Illinois or Kentucky. We went with pepe mint last Friday to a dog park in Nashville, then we traveled to Atlanta where my brother has a golden & a cat. While in Atlanta, went to a park, where other dogs were on leash. My vet said Bubba has some viral thing - he didn't even test the messy poo I took in - he said traveling across states Bubba must have picked up something he hadn't been exposed to before. He said this was as close to a flu that a dog can get. My vet uses both traditional medicine & herbal medicine, depending on the situation. He prescribed an herb - Early Comfort - looks like it is used in humans too. Bubba is to have 1/4 of a tablet, every 8 hrs, until at least 24 hrs after I no longer see any problems. Here's the best info I could find on this herbal compound, if you want to know more. http://www.nutritionsurplus.com/inde...ort%204oz.html I am not to let Bubba eat any solids for 24-48 hrs, only water and maybe some chicken broth or chicken soup - my vet said that chicken soup can have amazing healing properties even for a dog. Not feeding him is going to be really interesting, seeing how demanding he can be at times for food and he has had some interest in eating. The really sad thing when I was at the vet, the vet tech had one of her dogs there barely alive - her 9 yr old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel had gone into cardiac arrest last night and was on oxygen just hanging on - made me feel fortunate to just be dealing with maybe just a virus

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Glad to hear it wasn't pancreatitis. How sad for the vet tech.

| I hope you baby will be alright. I am surprised, though, that the vet did not even look at the stool sample to rule out coccidia or giardia. I hope you get to feeling better too. |

| Umm Im pretty sure bjh meant a stool sample from the dog! HeHeHe just kidding round, Duncan has had this too, he gets tummy attacks quite often, have the vet check for IBS as well but I think ellie mae is right that its a gastro thing and can be cleared up with meds. Try not to worry mom and let us know how hes doin. Elizabeth Duncan and Piper |

| Are you making him homemade chicken soup? I'm asking because most canned varieties have WAY too much salt in them and can hurt their kidneys I hope that you both feel better soon

As for the concern with the stool sample, the vet did look at it, just didn't test it. Actually, he said he had seen several cases in the last week.

| also, I should add that Bubba & Roxy were just at the vet 13 days ago and had a full blood panel done & urinalysis. Everything was fine with their tests, so the vet did have an immediate history

| we saw our vet specialist and he said that he could not stress to us enough how important a low fat and high fiber diet was for my girls. Both have high amylase levels. He suggested hills w/d it has 20 % fiber. We are going back to wellness it has 10 % fiber until I can talk with a nutritionist. I would say stop any canned food if you are giving any of that. Stop the treats also (again "if" you are giving any) and stick to kibble only. My girls have had mild diar. but not vomiting but this scares me so I am doing some research now. But he said over and over low fat- like as low as 5-6% fat and high fiber 15-20%. Wellness weight mgt has 6 % fat and 10 % fiber. If I find anything else on this I will post. |
