| Tucker's Sick This morning Tucker threw up a little bit of his breakfast and I thought, no biggie. But then the rest of the morning he seemed "off". He was a little bit shaky so I let him lick some peanut butter and honey off of a spoon. He still seemed "off". Around noon he threw up twice back to back (just a couple minutes apart) and it was quite a bit. Likely his whole breakfast liquefied. He has been shaky off and on since. He does go and drink some water from time to time. No diarrhea. I waited a bit and offered him a tiny bit of food and he was not really interested. The vet will see him in a little over an hour, but do you all have any idea what could be going on? Molly is due to be spayed tomorrow, but should I put it off in case Tucker has something contagious? I've kept them in separate rooms once I realized he might be sick. She sees the vet later this afternoon for a pre-surgery check up, so I'll ask the vet as well. He is not quite as high energy as usual, but he is playing. Tucker is 19 months old and weighs almost 6 lbs. Please say a prayer for him and give me advice... Last edited by Wogger; 03-16-2008 at 11:19 AM. |

| Hope your little guy is better soon. Do you suppose his sugar might be low since he's been throwing up and is shaky? If so, do you have Nutrical on hand? |

| Update Thanks for the prayers and well wishes. He is back home and doing pretty well. The vet did blood work, fecal, bacterial and everything was in the normal range (including liver numbers which I was worried about). They gave him some sub-q fluids, some anti-nausea and some metronidazole for a week. He seems perkier already. He is really going to hate not getting a full size dinner tonight. They think he may just have found something that didn't agree with him. Thanks again! |

| Well, poor little Tucker just threw up again. I gave him a tiny dinner tonight to take his metronidazol with as the vet said and he seemed fine. Then this evening I let him play with Molly for a little bit since he seemed to be doing so much better and he threw up. Should I be alarmed? Vet said to bring him in with Molly in the morning if he keeps throwing up. I will do that, but I really hope this is the last time. He is alert and happy, but not his hyper self. He is peeing normal. Hasn't had a b.m. since this morning, but really hasn't had much food make it through either. I just want him to be better. He's never had anything like this before. More puppy prayers please. |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | He didn't eat anything that could cause a blockage did he? It may be he needs a day or so of the meds to settle his tummy.Cali is on that medicine now since she ate part of her latex toy and has a bacterial infection in her tummy. It did take 2 doses of the meds to stop her bloody poop. My pom is on that medicine 2 x a day for life due to some medical conditions and if she misses one dose her tummy acts up. Hopefully by morning he will be better. I will keep him in my prayers.

| With Tucker, anything is possible. He is the type that if something can be eaten, he will eat it. His favorite thing in the whole wide world is paper towels. We try to be very careful. The vet did say if he is still vomiting tomorrow, they would take an xray since all his blood work looked good. He is not acting very sick. I hate this worrying. I just want him to be well! Thanks for the well wishes. I will keep the board posted. Quote:
