| I realize that too Ellie... BUT from what I have read, a high alt reading doesn't neccessarily mean a liver problem in itself. I guess I need to see what the BAT shows

| I had not noticed that word 'hemolysis' on her blood work. That could account for it being higher plus the fact she ate a high protein meal that morning. I just feel that if the problem was her liver then some of the other readings would be off. I did just read on the internet that pancretitis can cause the ALT to be elevated. Also the increased platelet count could be caused by hypothyroidism (you said she is too thin). I know this is worrying you to death. You are supposed to be resting. We will just keep praying the results come back good. |

Hemolysis is rupture of the red blood cells. It can either be happening in the body (some diseases cause this) or it could have been caused when collecting the blood. When you draw blood and transfer it to a tube, you never want to press on the syringe..but you have to just let the blood flow out naturally. Otherwise it exerts too much pressure and breaks the cells. I'm not sure about how much impact it has on the results though...I haven't learned about that yet. I would call the vet if I were you and ask about it.

| Thanks Michelle, The impact was shown on the results as to how much percent off it could be. I would have ignored the notes if they also were on Sunnie's test results, but his had no such comments about hemolysis
