I just came back from visiting Sebastian. I didn't get to talk to the doctor (they will call me later tonight when they are done with their appts. for the day), but the tech smiled when she brought him into the room to see me and said that he's doing a lot better. And, I could tell! He was much perkier than yesterday. Yesterday he would just sit next to me and look at me with his ears down and these sad little eyes. And, he could hardly walk :( . Today he was walking around the room, sniffing, trying to crawl into my lap, and giving me lots of kisses :luvu: . It felt so good to see him acting more like himself. I have hope now that my little baby will come home to me. I will update with more specifics after I talk to the doctor tonight!

What excellent news!! I had no idea of the specific dangers of a penny. Everyone has heard stories of skinkids swalling pennies!

I'm so glad he seems more like himself today. Best wishes for a continued and even speedier recovery. You are in good hands.

This is so ironic. It has not been more than 30min. ago I took a penny away from Kayla. I had to bribe her with something else and had no idea what it was until I picked it up. She was running and throwing it up in the air. Thank God she didn't swallow it. SHe tore a button off my husband's shirt the other day and we never found it. She probably swallowed it. It is amazing what these little ones get into. Mine is into to something constant and that is NO lie. Only when she lays down and rests alittle while and here we go again. I hope so much your baby gets well. I believe he will and I believe in prayer and I know that God is concerned about these little ones when the Bible says He knows every little sparrow that falls. Will be hopeing and praying for your little one.

This is very good news.. Nothing like all the kisses.. I bet your face lit up today when you saw how well he had progressed...

It sounds like he is getting special care and that is what matters most.. Im so glad you are getting to see him as well...

I pray he is home back to himself real soon for you .....

I pray he gets that zinc out too or we are going to have to call him COPPER :)

I talked to the doctor this evening and they said that although is red blood cell count is still low, it at least has not been dropping and appears to be stable. Now we just have to wait and hope that those red blood cells start rebuilding themselves! He has not had to have anymore blood transfusions today! We will hope that he will continue along this path and that his liver and kidneys hold up during the recovery process.

Hopefully he will have a quick recovery. Thanks for updating..I have been checking all night! Still praying for your baby..this is good news though! :thumbup:

I just got a good update from the doctor. The specialist talks about his red blood count in percent rather than numbers like the other doctor. So his red blood count stayed stable yesterday at 18%, and today it is up to 20%. So he is starting to rebuild his red blood cells :D . I am soooo happy to hear this. They have also transitioned him to getting some of his meds orally instead of through the IV and they are weaning him off of IV fluids.

The only slightly bad news is that he had 3 vomiting episodes between 12am and 3am...so they gave him some anti-nausea medication and he hasn't vomited since. If he holds his food down today and continues to do well he may be coming home tomorrow!
