Donating YT 30K Club Member | Roxie just jumped off the bed OMG I am going to have a heart attack with these dogs! She just leaped off the bed to get at Pixie which she always uses the ramp. She landed on her right side funny and at first couldn't stand on it, then after a few minutes we got her to walk and she was walking ok but when she stood still she was holding the right back leg up. I just had her put pressure with her back legs on my hand and she seemed to be able to put pressure on both legs. If they break a leg how can you tell and would they be able to put pressure on it? I am freaking out between Pixie's lump yesterday and now this. I have her in her crate right now and she seems pretty subdued. Of course her insurance goes into effect Monday! I will take her in if she is still favoring it in the morning. Any input is appreciated.

Luvs Lulu Donating Member | Just put some warm compresses on it for now, keep her still and resting. If she broke it she would be screaming. Watch her and see how she does. Hope she feels better. I tell you these buggers will cut our lives short.

| I think she would limp, when my Henry took a giant leap and hurt himself, the emergency vet on the phone told me to hold a squeak toy near him and squeak it upwards, if he/she hops up for it fine, then they're ok. But if they don't want to or yelp, then you should prob. take them in. I was a bit worried at this because, at first I thought...well if he did break it, why would I make him hop up for his toy? poor boy. But the vet said he would not make the effort if he was in pain etc. Not sure if that helps hope your furbaby is ok!

| Awww. I didnt see about the lump...please inform me... Aww hun you just arent having much luck lately. I'm sure she is fine. I think she would be showing signs of hurting, etc if something was wrong. I know Maddie did something similiar a long long time ago and She let out the loudest scream when she got up...up was actually fine. I called the vet to see what he wanted me to do. He said is she was acting fine, then she was probably ok. Just keep on eye on her (which i know you will) Prayers to you.....stay strong!!! Hugs! |

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | i don't think she broke it if she is able to put pressure on it without crying in pain. if she's still limping i would venture a guess that she either torn her cruciate or has a luxating patella now. She could have also fractured her tibial crest which isn't as big of a deal as a fractured tibia. i'd take her in with you on monday when you bring in pixie. forgot to say, if she is limping on monday they should do an x-ray to see if she damaged her patella or tibial crest.

| My stupid room mate dropped Chloe (I was pissed off at no end) and Chloe yelped and ran and hid. I was freaking out and crying and Chloe was hoping on on foot and just not happy. I called the Clinic they said to watch her over the next day. She ended up being ok, I think she just had a bad owwie. |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Update Thanks everyone for the replies! I kept her quiet most of the evening and by bedtime she was walking fine, This morning she was chasing Pixie around with out limping. I wonder if her knee popped out last night and thne went back in and that's why she couldn't stand on it at first. Iam taking her with to the vet Monday.

| Patti, It wouldn't hurt to give her half of a children's aspirin a few times throughout the day just in case there is any inflammation. Good idea to have the Vet check her out. Sheila |

| OMGosh, Patti...I'm just seeing this! Not been on much at all since Wednesday! Where is Pixie's lump? I'll have to look for a thread on that. I feel so bad...and now with Dixie jumping off the bed! You have enough on your mind and sure didn't need all this! Sending hugs to you and best wishes to all your furbabies! I'll be thinking of you!
