My poor boy
 
So about 4 days ago a piece of ham flew off my plate and before I could say no it was gone, we then had a really loose stool. The following day he seemed to be fine and we got new treats in the mail. All natural but a lot of different ingredients that he has never before. I woke up 2 days ago to a poop massacre spots of really loose stool all over my bedroom. I decided not to give him those treats as I thought maybe he just wasn't used to them. During all this time he pretty much has been himself especially 2 nights ago he was running around like a mad man. Well I was just sitting here I thought he tooted, and leaned over a few minutes later to tell him he was stinky and give him kisses. Well I picked him up to love on him and his poor butt was wet:( He had poop all over his butt. So, now I am starting to get worried, as he has been sleeping all day and I haven't seen him eat really anything. I thought for sure it was the cookies but he hasn't had those for 2 days now.. Could those still be effecting him...should I bring him to the Vet tomorrow? I am starting to get worried. Any suggestions. I feel horrible for him.

4 days is a long time to be having diarrhea. You might want to take him in for a stool sample and a check-up.

Thats kinda what I thought, but even if its just loose, not necessarily diarrhea?

I'd say you might want to call the vet tomorrow - since it's Friday. If you don't call tomorrow, you might not be able to get him in until Monday!

Poor Parker! I'd get to the vet 1st thing in the morning. Maybe eating a bit of rice or some banana might help in firming up the stools until then

I would be concerned that it happened right after the ham and he's laying around now. It is very important that you take him.:(

My vet is great, we will be seen for sure tomorrow!! Now I am getting scared! :( But I have to say he was fine after the ham, it was the treats he had...I think...and its like in waves, just today was the first day he has been acting really glum. But we will go to be on the safe side regardless!

We went through this with Gracie after we first got her. She had diarrhea at first then it turned to real loose stools. We called the vet, and they said to give her yogurt and rice. We took her in the next day and they checked her for coccidia and giardia, but she had neither. The loose stools continued so our vet gave us some ID diet (canned prescription food). This cleared up the diarrhea almost immediately. We kept her on this exclusively for about 3 days then gradually switched her back to her regular food. We've had no problems since.

AWw thanks so much. I will be taking him tomorrow AM just to be on the safe side, I will worry myself sick if I don't. He doesn't go out much at all but he did go out the other morning to see Daddy, and now i am worrying that he got something outside. I am a worry wart. I got the pot going of rice right now, and have our Nutra Cal so I will give him some of that until tomorrow. I really appreciate it!

Sounds like the ham started the tummy problem. Too much fat for their little systems. Glad you will visit the vet tomorrow and, going forward, keep a can of pumpkin in your pantry. It is the wonder "drug" for our pups. However, it sounds like he is smelly and probably has the beginning of pancreatitis. Unfortunately, most of us have experienced this condition during our Yorkie's lifetime.

Look forward to hearing he is on the mend and the vet will have the proper medications to settle down his tummy. Don't be too hard on yourself, I feed my little Sophie meatloaf when she was a pup, and it made her so sick. Still remember the vet telling me "these little guys can't tolerate greasy or rich food".

aww poor Parker... give him some Pepto... that's what my vet assist. friend told me to do...

The doctor will give you Amoxycicillin (sp??) drops.. which is pretty much the same thing... but do give them a call anyway.

I think it's supposed to be plain white rice (I may be wrong)

I normally do.. rice.. chicken.. and strained baby food (no turkey) all mixed together

K thanks, do you know the dosage? I am going to at least call her (the vet) and see what she think. And all I have is brown rice and he is just nibbling on it so I am sure he will be fine. I am out of CHICKEN because I am on this diet:rolleyes: and we just went through our last jar of baby food...I am not prepared I guess! I am learning my lesson. I am going to get us all stocked up this weekend.:)

Sometimes I can be the biggest space cadet:doh34: ! I found some frozen chicken breasts in the freezer! So I am cooking him one up right now:thumbup: And he took a tsp. of Nutra Cal too, so I am hoping for some more solid poops and a happier boy!

Nope your right, and thank you so much. He is sleeping just fine having puppy dreams while I sit here. I am going to try and get some rest right now, we'll see how he is in the AM! Again, thank you so much! :)

But so much? His butt was wet? Take him in, it is worth your peace of mind plus his health. Sometimes my little ones gets the runs for a couple days but they still drink and eat and play, some of those treats be it natural ornot are filled with hidden crap
