| My vet friend and I were discussing this very thing last night, he says Pitt Bulls are definitely the most dangerous as far as attacking other animals is concerned. He also mentioned that they are usually not the most dangerous when it comes to attacking humans. We have a breed here in S.A called Boer Bulls and he says they account for most human attacks. Either way, I will not take the chance, if I see one, I go in the opposite direction. May that poor baby rest in peace. Sheilagh

| This is exactly my reason for not wanting to take my babies to a Dog Park/Beach...it's just too unpredictable! It just sickened me to watch this video but, I think it's an important lesson to be learned. Just to see what can happen and how helpless you can be in a situation like this. It was hard to tell from the video but, it didn't sound like anyone came to this woman's cry for help...sad! I'm wondering for those who do go to Dog Park/Beaches...how do you prepare for a situation like this? Do you carry anything with you for defense...like pepper spray, big stick, etc? Off to go hug my babies...

| My last yorkie was on the receiving end of larger dogs too many times...A rottweiler...only young and a bit TOO playful...one of his teeth punctured through Heidi's skin and she had to have a couple of staples. A greyhound (which was on a leash!) picked her up but thankfully dropped her unharmed after much screaming from myself & the owner....i have lost count of the amount of times she was 'bullied' by larger dogs...I would just pick her up when i saw ANY dog in the end...I learnt my lesson...I wouldn't trust any dog even if their owner says they are ok..you just can't be 100% sure. I have a tiny baby now...not quite 3lbs...she wouldn't stand a chance if she was attacked...i take NO risks now whatsoever...call me paranoid, overprotective, I have to be constantly on my guard when i'm out in public with her..she's 8 months old and never been let off the leash...which is sad i know...she has a large garden to run & play in and she gets plenty of walks on the lead...I'm not sure if i'll ever be brave enough to let her off.

| Couldn't watch it either... hearing that woman shouting was enough and a slight glimpse of the dog... poor little baby.

OH GOD lord, poor baby. How dreadful, my God I should not have watched that . I keep telling my husband about this and he keeps telling me that we have to let our dogs associates with big dogs in the park and street and I keep telling him NO I wont. I pick them up, I rather had barking little dogs than dead dogs. People just dont realize that our little babies are small and those big dogs are not all friendly. This is so tragic.

You are 100% right and I totally agree with you. My husband calls me paranois but I would rather be paranoid and ahve them alive then not and dead. I dont know what the hell I will do in a case like this. I intend to start walking with Pepper sprac or mace. you dont have to let her off the lead if you dont want to, she has ample space to run freely. Last edited by soccbydo; 02-09-2008 at 02:45 PM.

Donating YT 7000 Club Member | Actually, I think what happened was the Chi's mommy was taking pictures of/filming her dog, and when the attack happened she just dropped her camera so it caught the attack while it was dangling from her wrist.

My Little Man! Donating Member | OMG OMG OMG I clicked on the link and started crying. It took me the whole day to finally answer to this post. This is the most horrible thing I ever saw . I felt sick after that. I cannot even imagine the pain of that dog's owner, and that poor dog oh god... After watching it I had the most horrible feeling that I couldnt describe, my hair stood up. I would definitely not let my baby run around on the beach without a leash (not that I ever did) especially after seeing this! I cannot believe those pits were running around without a leash! I really hope that lady will find the pitbulls' owner! It is just sickening to see how many irresponsible owners are out there!

This video is awful and it makes me sick to my stomach. Never will I EVER let Franklin run loose without a leash. We went to look at a house today that doesn't have a fenced in backyard... it makes me nervous. However, it's in a very nice neighborhood where there aren't likely to be stray dogs running around.

Can you fence your backyard if you decide to get that house? It doesnt have to be a stray dog running around. There are a lot of big dogs that people own and they jump over fence like its nothing. Yes I would defenately be very nervous if you do get that house defenately fence your backyard if you can its not worth of risk. I would also walk around and see what kind of neighbors are around and what type of dogs. I wouldnt want to move in the house where there are a lot of big dogs living in the neighborhood.
