As long as you correct her daily protocol, you should see a positive change over time. Just make sure that her next meals are egg/dairy/vegetable protein. |
I keep coming back to this thread, cause I am so sorry her #s are high again. This sucks :( Ya know, I don't mind making special food with all sorts of needed supplements, I don't mind paying Vet bills, I don't mind paying for any of it. I just really HATE thinking that our Babies have these defects and that they could and can alter their lives :( I truly hope that there comes a day when less and less of this is past around. :( |

I know. It is so sad. What really gets me is how brave they have to be at the vet's when they are getting needles stuck in their necks, getting held down by strangers, waking up dazed from a surgery, get pills shoved down their throats... |
I am so sorry the number is up, Cali was diagnosed with very mild MVD based on 2 Bile acir tests. The first one was 0/92 or close to it and the second was 0/43. We then did an ultrasound that showed no external shunts, then we did a liver biopsy during her spay and she was diagnosed with a very mild MVD. Cali's specialist said in her experience if the BA were under 100 it usually was MVD. When really elevated a external shunt. My 11 year old pom has chirrosis and liver disease diagnosed by blood work, ultrasounds and a liver biopsy. When they did her ultrasounds, they did 2 one to diagnose her and one a couple of weeks ago to see if it was worse due to a grand mal seizure. They had me stay during the ultrasound and showed me where the liver was smaller and had nodules. I believe liver disease is easier to determine. Maya has done well with her meds and is holding her own for now. I pray you get an answer and a good outcome. |
Alarming Lepto Hi, I'm sorry to hear about your worries. Please know that I have read and have been told to stay away from the lepto vaccine. It is not well tolerated by small dogs, i.e. yorkies. I have refused it every time, I've taken my 2 to the vet. I will try and find its side effects. Quote:

Hi Crystal - I wasn't really on yesterday, but I'm so sorry you're going through all of this - poor Ellie. I don't have experience with this, but I just wanted to offer my positive thoughts. She is VERY lucky to have a mum who is incredibly knowledgable and diligent - I know you'll get her through this. |

Thanks for the thought.:) Our saga continues in the health and diet section... |
I'm so sorry Ellie May. I'll be praying for her. |
did they try doing an xray to fidn out how big the liver is??? ussually if its small its liver shunt!! thats what my vet did for riley instead of ultrasound... |
No, she didn't have a liver xray. She has to have an u/s anyway on her bladder. It is most likely not LS because 95% of the time their preprandial bile acid test is elevated and Ellie's isn't. It might not be MVD because the biopsy didn't show it (but it still could be). So nobody really knows. The vet did a biopsy (during Ellie's spay) and she didn't say that the liver was too small. I should've asked her.:p |
How is Ellie doing today? I've seen several threads so I've had a little trouble following everything. Has she been to a specialist yet? |
LOL. We've had a lot of problems in the last 48 hours. She sees a specialist next Saturday. |
I was just thinking, I have started quite a few threads.:) Two were from about a week ago about bladder problems. This one was from two days ago. THen I started two more (yesterday). One from another allergy she must have and was going crazy itching and another one when she was throwing up all day testerday. |
Praying for you both. Hang in there! Try to keep positive thoughts!:love-hug1 |
