Never hurts to get a second opionion. When Tina was diagnosed with Wellingbrands disease a few yrs. back, you would be surprised at the vets I talked to that really did not know what to do. Just so happened they hired a new vet and she knew exactly what to do. Tina's count was so low she said she was afraid she might even bleed out at home. They began to treat her and I even had my church pray and today she is completely well. Prayer changes things too. Don't give up. ' |

This piece of paper is cut off so I can't read some of the abbreviations. I only have the results from the first panel. The questionable ones are ?OS 2.9 (reference range 2.5-6.8), TBIL 9.2 (regerence range 0.0-0.9), BUN 23 (reference range 7-27), ?CI 119 (reference range 109-122). |
How was the BUN, cholesterol, etc? |

Does cirrhosis or hepatitis ring a bell with the elevated bile acids? They just aren't classic shunt symptoms. How about a reaction to a lepto vaccine causing liver damage? Is it possible? |

Oh boy - What is going on  I do think you may have to see a specialist, but I warn you that 'they' will want to do ALL the tests again themselves. I hope you can get to the bottom of this :( |
We can hope it's just a blip and won't happen again. We're praying for you all. |

Could I ask why no chicken? This is usually thought to be more acceptable for liver compromised dogs then beef. Of course, others are better like egg or soy but I haven't heard of it causing problems. So why no chicken? |

I was talking to the vet about this. She had said before that they will want to do tons of stuff. Then today I said what are they going to make us do besides the ultrasound? She said they can't make us do anything and she is writing a letter to let them know that I'm informed and just want an ultrasound because everything else has been done.:) Ellie's vet is the best. We will hope that they don't insist on more BAT. |
Praying for Ellie....Maybe you could get your blood results and post them on the liver shunt group. |

Sweety, I Read No Chicken Right Here On Yorkie Talk Then I Talked To My Specialists About It And I Was Told Way Too Much Protein In The Chicken And The Liver Can Not Process Like It Is Suppose To ... I Had Bleu On Baby Gerber Graduate Chicken Per My 2nd Vet And Really Thought I Was Doing What I Was Suppose Todo By Following Vet Orders And The Specialists Told Me For A Liver Condition That Is One Of The Worst Things You Could Feed Your Baby Is Chicken... I Will Have More Information On This With Bleus Discharge Papers And I Will Scan Fax Email Call Or Whatever Helps You His Entire Liver Work Up ... Luckily Bleus Liver Is Normal In Size And Is Doing Its Proper Job By Breaking Down The Protein And Not Backing Up In His System Causing Bad Toxins. This Is Really As Much As I Know Im Learning But Trust Me I Will Be Educated On The Yorkshire Breed As It Is My Passion Now! Hugs Im Praying I Truly Am Standing In The Gap That The Lord Will Give You Answers And Put People In Your Path To Help You Just As He Has Done Me |
