| I have a friend with a 3 year old liver shunt Yorkie and she give her pumpkin every day to combat constipation. I know you have to be very careful what you give them when they have a liver shunt. I hope he feels better soon. |

| I have no advice, because I haven't dealt with liver shunt. I just hope he feels better soon. He's such a cutie and it's a shame for him to feel bad. Lucy and Rebel send big, mushy kisses for him.

| Is he not feeling well because of the liver shunt or do you think something else is wrong? My parents dog (which is a Teddy Bear) just went through a sickness...she started throwing up and shivering, the diarehha. They took him to the vet and they gave her a shot to settle the stomach, did some xrays tpo make sure there was an obstructions and did some blood tests which came back normal and sent her home but 2 days later she was still really sick and lost 3.5 lbs . She also had no energy...could'nt even keep her head up so the vet said to get her back immediately...my dad thought she died on the way to the vet...but she was still breathing when he got there...the vet still had no idea what was wrong until my dad said all she does is "shiver" then the vet had an idea...maybe she had "addison's disease" a blood test confirmed it...the vet gave her some medicine and within an hour she was much better. Addison's disease affects the adrenal glands. Maybe this is something you should have Boo-Boo checked for...you did say she was shivering. Addison kills quickly but is 100% treatable. My parents dog will be on medicine the rest of her life. (its not expensive) but when you look at her now you could not tell that she was on the brink of life 2 weeks ago. Please check into this. |
