Bella's leg is broke :( My poor little girl looks so uncomfortable and sad. My son did something to her today, we aren't really sure what but she was in her ex pen and he wasn't. She cryed and was very obviously hurt when we seen her at that point holding her right front paw up in the air. I brought her into the livingroom on the carpet and she wouldn't put any weight on it. When she did try once she fell right on the floor. We went to the vet and it is broken, a clean fracture thankfully but still awful for her to have to deal with. I feel so guilty and wish that I had somehow prevented this from happening. I really wonder at this point whether i'm a responsible enough person to own such a fragile little gal. :( The vet was able to splint it and is hopeful that it will heal up nicely as long as we keep her from jumping and getting to rambunctious. We go back in 2 weeks and she will have to wear a splint for 6 to 8 weeks. If this doesn't heal properly she will need surgery. OMG.. I'm just in tears for my poor baby. She can't even get around with this splint on, she looks so horribly sad. |
I hope Bella heals quickly. There are lots of strong opinions about it not being a good idea to have a yorkie if you have children in the house. Hope she's alright |
AH, poor little munch! I'm so sorry this happen to her. Hope she isn't in any more pain now. Hugs and smoochies to her from me. |
Poor Bella :( Hope she heals right and doesn't need surgery!! :getwellso Miss Bella!! :) |
Poor sweetie:(. Heal soon Bella. |
Jackie don't even think that for a second longer. We have all had accidents with our pups that make us wonder if we are suitable... but they are just accidents... you are a great mom to Bella and she is lucky to have you. I hope your sweet girl is feeling better soon :) |
Poor Bella:( Prayers are comming your way. Dont feel irresponsible, Accidents do happens & specailly with the little ones also. Hope she heals soon. |
Awwwwwww, poor lil' baby girl.... <<kisses>> Healing prayers comin' your way!!! |
Poor Bella, praying for a speedy recovery. |
Oh no! I'm so sorry to hear that she hurt her little leg, I hope she heals quickly. |
puppy Is it possible to "rehome" your son? |
Oh hon..sending prayers for little bella's speedy recovery. It's amazing how fast these little stinkers get hurt. |
I am so sorry about Bella's broken little leg. Don't beat yourself up about it....accidents can happen under anyones care. They are just that...accidents. I hope Bella feels a littler perkier soon; in the meantime give her a little extra TLC. (((((((((Hugs to both of you)))))))))))))) |
Omg, sorry about Bella, she is alive and that is the main thing.. she did not die and hopefully the break will heal. She is in my prayers.. pooh's mum |
awwwww poor baby!! Kiss Kiss! I dropped a dog (weimaraner) once getting out of my truck and she hit her leg. She yapped so loud. She tried to get up but, fell back down. I ran her inside and put her on the table to look to see if I could see a bone sticking out. I laid her on the floor and got all the grocers in, got them put up and next thing I know she was running around...but that leg was sore for a few more days. It happens! |
Prayers for Bella - I'm surprised she doesn't have a cast. Prayers for great healing. How old is your son, can he tell you what happened & understand how fragile she is? |
My son is 2.5, he doesn't understand how fragile she is but he does follow my rules when she is out of her pen, he is not allowed to run or jump.. he is to do the yorkie shuffle when walking and he KNOWS he is not allowed to hold her. I don't even let him hold her on his lap. I'm very very careful about him and my almost 5 yr old because I know how easily that the can get hurt of killed. She was in he ex pen and I guess I underestimated her safety in there, I didn't even realize he could reach over it far enough to grab her... now I know better and can make sure that this type of thing can be avoided, but I just wish I had been able to avoid it all together so that Bella wasn't paying the price for my carelessness. I do know there are some strong opinions on here about yorkies and kids, I've read them and everyone is entitled to their opinions. I am curious what the poster who posted about rehoming my son meant by that ? |
Aww... you're a good mom. Accidents happen no matter how careful you are, don't beat yourself up over it. Hope Bella is back to her old self soon! |
Awww poor baby I hope she heals quickly and all is well again! |
Sounds like you've taken as many or more precautions than many puppy owners without tiny children. Sounds like you're a good mom to all your babies!! Healing hugs and kisses.................. |
Oh gosh, hugs to Bella - and to you too, Jackie! I'm sure your heart just sunk a million feet when you saw your Bella. It's so scary and wrenching whenever these babies are hurt. A couple of months ago another poster (following her baby's injury) said we'll all have to wrap our babies in bubble wrap....not a bad idea, I sometimes think As for the "rehoming your son" comment from another post - I *think* that poster was trying to inject some humor....at least I think so...? I don't think it was meant as hurtful. At least, I hope not. Hang in there and hope Bella recovers quickly! :D |
So sorry to hear about Bella. The most important thing right now is to restrict her movement so that the leg can heal. If you want the best possible chance of avoiding surgery, then you should consider confining her to a crate for a while. Not the ex pen where she can jump up and down or walk around but a small kennal. I know it seems cruel but it's no different than confining a person to bed when they have a serious injury. Get better soon Bella!!! |
hope bella heals quickly! :D |
I'm so sorry about your furbaby's poor little leg. I hope she feels better as soon as possible. I know how you feel. My Oliver jumped out of his basket (didn't know he could - now I do) last night and hurt his little leg. It's an awful awful feeling. Get well wishes from Oliver and I! |
I have no opinions on that, but I'm sending prayers that Bella will heal quickly. |
ahhh poor baby! hope she heals fast! |
Poor baby! Accidents happen-to dogs, people, and kids too. It's just one of those things-please don't blame yourself. You're a great mommy to Bella and to your kids! Hugs to you, and get well soon, Bella! |
Poor Bella, I hope she gets all better soon:( |
Poor baby! I hope that Bella gets well soon. As some of the other posters stated, accidents happen. Accidents can happen in homes with children or in homes without children. |
