| california has diarrhea... california is now 9 weeks she just started having diarrhrea last night and went about four times...this can be due to her being given 5 little treats, i also gave her more food than her normal daily amount due to trying to get her to eat some medicence to treat worms....ive been giving her plenty of water to kep her hydrated. she has a vet appointment on friday but until then im using home methods i read off board..for starters she is on a 24hr water diet..today my girlfriend is going shopping what are some things that will help becuase ive seen so many methods im not sure what to pick..should we mix in rice with a little of her ruglar food? give cottage cheese and rice? pepto bismol?canned pumpkin? whats is the easy best solution for now?

| I think that alot of people here use a little canned pumpkin....I don't know how much so I will let someone else answer your question. I hope she feels better. Also, the treats could have caused it too even though they are little. 5 little treats to a yorkie pup is like a meal. I hope she gets better soon... |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Welcome!! The diahrrea could be from the medicine also. I would try and give her a little rice mixed in with her food or a little chicken. Hope she feels better soon!

| I am no expert and I might be wrong but I would be really afraid to give only water to such a young yorkie for fear of hypoglycemia. Do you have some nutrical? At least get some nutrical and use some of it. |

| You might want to try this recipe that I have seen posted on here before: 1/2 cup half and half 1/2 cup baby rice cereal 1 jar meat baby food (no turkey) 1 tsp karo I would also give her a half teaspoon of canned pumpkin (not the kind with spices in it). Also get some baby pedialyte and give her a little of that. It can be very dangerous if a baby that young does not eat or get nutrition. She could possibly have coccidia. I would never put a puppy that young on just a water diet. |

| ok my girlfriend is saying she doesnt feel comfortable giving her pumpkin b/c she is saying she has already had two different types of puppy food, treats and rice since her coming home on the 24th. so do you think rice and cattage cheese would be good? do you mix that in or seperate it? as for the baby pedi. medicene how much of that should be given and how often?

| I don't know for sure on the pedialyte. I just give a dropper or two full every few hours. What kind of food did the breeder send home with her and what did you her switch to? Is you puppy active or is she sleeping a lot? If she is not active then give her some nutri-cal or karo syrup. You just can't play around when these babies get sick that young. I would take to her the vets tomorrow if possible if she still has diarrhea. The canned pumpkin if perfectly safe. You can mix a little in with her food. |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Glad she seems better. The rice wouldn't hurt for another day or so
