| my new baby lilly is sick, please help! Hi, I just got a teacup yorkie for christmas(Lilly), she is 16 weeks old and really tiny and she was fine until yesterday. She started sneezing alot and her nose was running, eyes weeping too. I took her to the vet, he said she had a sinus infection, gave her a shot and sent her home with an antibiotic. Late last night she seemed to be better, running around again and ate a little bit of food, but today all she has done is sleep. She doesn't want to eat or drink so I gave her some nutrical, and water from a syringe. I just stuck some soft food in her mouth to make sure she has some food in her. She threw up one time which was this morning, and hasn't since and she is peeing and pooping. I'm so worried about her being so lethargic. She seems worse today than yesterday. I'm gonna take her back to the vet tomorrow, but does anyone have any suggestions in the mean time? Thanks KRisten |

| Try giving her some Nutrical. If you dont have that, a blob of Karo syrup might help. If she is a tiny, she needs all the calories possible. Have you also tried Gerber baby meats in a jar? I have used the all turkey, chicken or lamb. Get her to that vet!!! good luck!!!! |

| I see that you're offline, but want to send my well-wishes. You've already gotten some good advice on here, so I've nothing to add. Keep us posted on your babies progress. And, welcome to YT!

| Oh goodness, having a tiny one can be so scary I almost lost my Luna, and she wasn't even that tiny, really. I talked with a breeder in my state (found her at YTCA.org) and she gave me a formula to make that saved Luna's life! This was after a crappy vet gave me care instructions, that if I had continued to follow, would have killed her or at the very least made her diabetic. Nutrical is great for some times, but shouldn't be over-used, as it seems to cause a quick spike in blood sugar, then the plummet Anyway, lemme see if I can find a link to our story, where the formula is http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=58036 Force feeding isn't easy, but if it saves their life, that's what you have to do. Fortunately, I was able to get Luna to eat on her own very quickly, and I hope that you have the same result Prayers going up that your little wee one is okay If there's no improvement I'd get her to the vet ASAP. If your vet isn't overly concerned, then it's time for a new vet, since a lot of them have little to no experience dealing with toy breeds and tinies.

| I hope you baby starts eating soon. I kinda freaked out when I first got Teddi because she was so small (I think like 11 oz) and she didn't want to eat after the first day so I went out and bought every baby food, cold cuts, a roast chicken, cat and dog food I could find. I tried everything and it seems like she only like things one time but then I finally figured out that she just liked to eat hard dog food like my older dog was eating!! Weird...I think the dog food was almost bigger than her. I think it just takes them a little while to adjust. I just made sure she was getting nutracal to make sure she was getting something. She came around in a few days. Good luck!!

| If you give her some honey or some water with a little sugar in it-it may give her a little energy. Mine get very lethargic when ill, its the bodys natural way of reserving energy so that it can fight the virus. Honey is always a favourite for mine even when shes ill and wont have anything else. |
