Fading Puppy or Weak Puppy: Beef Liver Remedy Recipe for fading or weak puppy...from what Ive been told it is a true life saver!! Thought this worth passing on...print and kept for safe keeping! Beef Liver Remedy For Fading Puppies Large piece of Beef Liver - boil slowly in a small amount of water (5 minutes or until the blood comes out). Let cool-drain the liquid ONLY; 4 drops into a dropper and feed the weak puppy. First dosage every 2 hours for 12 hours, then every 4 hours. Continue for however long needed until the puppy is thriving on its own. Don't feed or use the liver itself, it is far too rich; use only the liquid hope this helps |
Very good info thank you.I did not know that |

Thanks Kimberly again for your knowledge!!!! We are due again any day with litter #2 and I hope don't need this but glad I have it in the event..... |
Another Formula This is another formula that I was given. (1-cc) every hour until the pup will suckle on mom. 1/4 C water, hot pinch of salt pinch of no salt (potasium) 1 Tbs. corn syrup Let cool and keep in fridge. Dispose after 24 hours. It is recommended that the pup not be feed formula until it is able to suckle and then stop using the mixture. |
Great infromation, thanks for the post. pooh's mum |

Tiny Baby I do not breed for tiny pups I want to show one of my babies some day. I come to all of you for help on 2 things. One I gave a puppy that isonly 2oz. I am bottle feeding but will not nurse. I love all my puppies no matter large or small. And will do everything to save them. Will this liver thing Help her? I worry so over all my babies. I am use to 4-6-oz pups not one sooo tiny. I have nurse mate I put it in her bottle along with karo. I have no nutri drops and am affraid if I order them now the may not get here in time. Also I have a female that has had 5 litters never had any defects. she is 8 yrs and this was her last litter. I bred her to Baily he has the champ backgrownd. I wanted to keep female. But Daisy lost her water and the babies 3 all were still born one had no back legs. Daisy lives with my Mom not me. But I got the call at 3am. Was the defect because of Baily? or her age? hope you don't think bad of me for breeding a 8yr old female but shes a big girl and was skipted so I though It would be ok she is fine. But scared to use Baily now. would love your input. Thank you DENISE |
tube feeding vs bottle feeding Hi Denise I have never bottle fed a puppy and believe in tube feeding as it is faster and you know they are getting enough and sometimes they will start nursing as they get stronger but mostly you end up tubing them for three to four weeks........I loved it as I formed a special bond with the pup. it is easy to do and if you give me your phone number I can help you but first you must go to the vet to get a small tube.......the smallest they have.......I think they use them for AI and I used Mamalact..spelling not exact but your vet should have something that can be used as a formula.....mine was a powder and I had to mix it .......I would be glad to help you out if you need it......your vet can give you a quick lesson in tube feeding .......just remember to put it in the mixture first for moisture and then glide it along the right side of the mouth......if the pup gags or makes noises then it is in the wrong place.......they usually help to glide it along as they know it is food......it is so hard to explain in a letter......I have free calling if you like..... good luck Gloria |

I hope you can get to the breeders group. I see you're not on now. Bottlefeeding always worked with mine. I would have her out by herself on a heating pad in a tote. I know my mamas tend to push the tiny sick ones to the back.Away from the others and off the heated area. So I always choose to remove them and put them by themsleves. Tho not everyone does this. I hope you come back on. I hope we can help you more. |
I don't now what is going on with m email and i don't know how to fix mypms |
My # is 828-396-7048 if she last trough the night I would love your help. My vet would not do the tube for me I asked he said it was not safe. but I have tubing went by what you said but she just gaged. Neve got it right. every time she feeds it comes out her nose so I suction her nose and have her on pinniciln. I have to inject some water under her skin. livein her up alittle. but shes not eating goodat all. I take my hubby to work at 8am be back by 8:30am call me . wil do all i can to keep her alive tonight. Thankyou. Denise |
Oh my. Our thoughts are with you tonight. I know you are trying to do everything you can to help her. If tubing doesn't work, do you have a syringe you can put a nipple on? There is better control with that than a baby bottle. If you go really, really slowly she may be able to swallow and not have it come back out her nose. |
Hi thought eveyone would be off line right now. Thank you I will try that the next feeding. If she makes it I am keeping her. She has stolen my heart. I just want her to make it. got 2 hrs sleep last night. can't sleep well am on meds for it but can't risk not waking up. It is so nice to have suport from youand everyone. It helps alot. Thank you |
bumping |
ok I am new what does bumping mean?lol |
I know someone here saved a little 1.8oz. puppy with just constant care and attention. I'm sure you must be exhausted by now. I struggled with my littlest guys this last litter and I was soo tired. They were closer to 4 oz., so not nearly as small as this little girl. I wish you had Nutri-Drops. I had to overnight them to get them before the birth. Hopefully the fluid under the skin will help keep her hydrated until she can get some nourishment in her. hang in there Denise. |
Has she been checked by the vet at all? If the milk is coming out her nose it is possible she could have a cleft palate. Can you look at the top of her mouth and see if you see any openings? |
Bumping just keeps your message at the top of the New Posts board so that more people see it. I've put a message in the Breeder's section, but there is only one still on line. I sent her a personal message and asked her to join in. Most are on the east coast, so will come on early tomorrow a.m. check back in whenever you can. |
Thanks I may over night them tommorrw.if i can pull her through tonight. I am alittle mad at my vet that he woul not put a tube in her for me. thank you and what is bumping? |
