I learned how to tube feed and I was so nervous..I make sure the baby was crying out so I knew I was in the right place.. if she was not fussing then I pulled it back out..I saved gracie.. and still have her.. we set the clock for every two hours and by tube feeding I knew I was giving her enough.. I did this on two with cleft pallet.. about 1o years ago.. lost both.. so I know how hard it is.. then at 11 pm I was able to go to a girls house, and she taught me.. I left her an emergency call.. she was not home and when she got home told me I could come to her house.. I tried and was so nervous.. had just taken her in for fluids to be put under her skin.. I knew I had to feed her that night.. so we sat there until I felt comfortable.. well not really but willing to give it my best.. did so every two hours that night.. took her to the vet again in the morning for more fluids.. and then for two week every two hours night and day we fed her.. my hubby woke me up every time the alarm went off.. and he went to check and said out loud.. she was suckling.. then he looked at me and said does that mean we can sleep 4 hours now..I think you need to find a vet that will teach you how to tube feed.. if yours will not..yes it is dangerous.. but at the same time.. knowing could save a baby.. I am in now waiting on a litter and it is always very scary and hard on the nerves.. sending prayers and puppy hugs to you...anne |

My new puppy I guys, My name is patricia, i'm from portugal, and i have a new baby in my house. Her name is Fiji and she is 2 months old. The breeder told me that she was a tiny teacup, but i'm not shore. She measures from the head to the tail (short) 10.2 inches? Can anyone help whit my doubt? Thank you so much. Kisses.... |
Our new tiny babies My yorkie mon, Roxie, had her 5 puppies four days ago. She is a little 4.5 pound girl and this is her second litter. We took the pups to the vet yesterday for their checkup, dews, and tails, and he feels that the three smallest pups need to be bottle fed as they are so tiny (birthweight, 2oz, 3.5oz, and 4oz). Their mouths are so small that I am not even sure that I am getting anything in, and I don't want to keep them from nursing on her. Any advice? |
yorkie babies Hi, It has been my opinion that if Mom is nursing them I would only supplement them. :aimeeyork They do have very small niples through Rivial. My 4lb yorkie just had 3 puppies 3 weeks ago and she has done a wonderful job. We just keep pumping her full of puppy food and puppy formula and supplementing the puppies with formula. We use one can of evaporated milk and one can of water and one egg yolk. No whites. Good luck you do evenually get some sleep. I have a wonderful husband that is retired and he sleeps nights and I sleep days. |
I like the formula that uses water, sodium and potassium (K-salt) and Karo. I have a great vet who listens to all my ramblings and she agreed that IF a drop of formula with fat in it, such as milk or egg yolk, gets into the lung of these tiniest puppies they can get a pneumonia that is extremely hard to treat in such small babies. The formula without fat is used for only the first 24-36 hours and you must work really hard to get the puppy started nursing. Also, I read in one of my books that years ago people fed only milk formulas (there was no commercial formula) and there was a high incidence of cataracts. Has anyone read or heard that??? Sometimes, these babies are just not meant to stay with us and they die no matter how hard we try to save them. But, as has been said, we learn from every experience and pray we don't need to use what we learned again. Congrats to all the new moms... |
new born yorkies live on cam hey guys my chanel finally had the babies ples show support they are on live now nice and healthy Chanel's Live Pregnancy 2 GIRLS 1 BOY, Ustream.TV: This is basically a live stream to monitor my Yorkshire Terrier. Travel&Nature,Nature |
wow, i really appreciated seeing that video! Too bad the sound cut off right as Chanel was getting ready to birth the first puppy!:( But since is our first litter too, it was good to watch And hopefully I wont be so nervous now. I still havent seen any videos of the placenta coming out and how to tie off the umbilical cord. Kinda hard to watch when everything seems to be happening so fast. Fascinating! |
Thanks so much for this post If it was not for this post I trulely believe that my pup would not of made it. I made it like you said and boy he sucked that down like it was nothing. Then started adding it to goats milk and with in 24 hours I have a thriving pup again. Thank You. Blondschillin:aimeeyork |
