Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Does your yorkie itch / have allergies? I cannot believe how many members (including me) have itchy yorkies and/or yorkies w/ allergies. I'm beginning to wonder if there are any yorkies who DON'T have allergies. So, let's poll, shall we?

| My yorkie (knock on wood) isn't itchy, thank goodness, but one of my aunt's yorkies does have food allergies, and he gets itchy when he has foods with a certain ingredient.

| My yorkie, Hobbs itches from food allergies AND flea allergies. But we've made dramatic progress getting it under control through aggressive flea prevention and we changed to an allergy formula food (Natural Balance Duck & Potato). |

| Layla has itched since the day we got her my poor girl... we've switched foods... i now homecook in case it was soemthing in the food... her ears are SO dry, they are always flaking, as is one spot on her head, and she is always knawing on her paws... and she gets these small scabs, i think they may be bug bites? i am 90% sure she was allergic to the dandilion pollen because her eyes watered like CRAZY around that time and are now normal... *sigh* |

| I voted for "Itches - has Allergies" but I've had Jazzie's allergies under control for over 3 or 4 years now with no medicine! Jazzie was so bad she was told she needs weekly allergy injections but after doing some of my own research and changing her diet, she has been itch free ever since! Wanna know my secret? 1. Changed her diet to Natural Balance Duck & Potato formula (you need to give it 3-4 months to really see the change) 2. No more dairy products 3. No more food or treats that are high in glutens (ie: wheat, corn, dairy, soy) I have a thread with details of what I found during my search: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...23&postcount=1

| Otie is 3 and just this spring/summer has started tail chewing/licking and paw licking. I'm lucky because he doesn't scratch. He's on hydroxyzine 10mg twice daily.
