Donating YT 3000 Club Member | wasn't the recall only for the venison formula? I'm still feeding Bengi the Potato & Duck one. |

| It WAS only for the Venison formula. But the company said that it had no idea HOW the melamine-contaminated rice protein got into its products. I am not so sure I trust a company that doesn't know how something got into it's products. Just wanted to see what everyone else thought. |

| I still have a little bit in a bag of their dry kibble in the Duck & Potato formula and I leave it down when I know I'll be gone past supper time. Since I started feeding my boyz NV raw they rarely eat the Natural Balance dry from their bowl. Once it's gone I'll be done with commercial dog food. I've made a few meals for the boyz but they still get their NV twice a day...once this bag is gone I'll have them on home made food and nothing else. I know commercial dog food is convenient but I feel safety is more inportant than convenience...especially now. |

| I had fed Natural Balance Venison for about 3 years before the recall. When the first recall came out I felt so confident that I was feeding a dog food of such good quality that we were "safe"! After all, Natural Balance advertised "only ingredients from the US". Not once did they mention they didn't KNOW where the US suppliers got their ingredients. So as far as I'm concerned....I would never trust them again. How dare they??!!!

| Buddy has been on Natural Balance Organic for almost 2yrs. I have no intention on switching. The recall has nothing to do with this product. I believe in it. It's good for him. |

Both of mine are eating mostly home cooked meals but I found they both missed the "crunch" of kibble. So I've been giving Phoebi some of the Evanger's pheasant and brown rice kibble while Chan is enjoying the Innova Lite formula. I loved the fact that the NB was using venison as the protein but the only other venison formula I know of is Nature's Variety and I'm not crazy about their other ingredients. Just a note too....Phoebi and Chan both had problems with their kidney function levels (BUN) after the NB recall. Both dogs went through 3 sets of bloodwork and urine. I contacted the telephone # that NB had posted and gave all the information. Was told 2 weeks ago that I'd be receiving a phone call within a few days from a Supervisor. I've phoned them several times since and have yet to get a phone call from somebody at Natural Balance. That was the final straw for me!

| I fed the Duck and Potato back in 2006. TJ has IBD but we were trying to rule out a food alleregy. First the Vet prescribed IVD Duck and Potato. I went thru one bag, but felt the ingredients were pure s*** - So, I switched to N.B. I went through about 4 bags and everything was good, except they were getting a tiny bit 'porky' so paranoid me switched to Merrick for a while and then to Wellness and then to Nature's Variety and also some Canidae. Right now they are not eating any dry food, it just sits there during the day just in case. They are on the NV and really like it, I am just concerned about commerical dog food in general. I am in the process of switching to a different Raw food: www.morigins.com I called and spoke with the owner and she makes it not some big dog food manufacturer. The owner told me she has ALOT of Yorkie customers and they are all doing really well. The distributer here on Long Island that I got it from also feeds her dogs it, and says that this product is extremely fresh and well made. My plan is to have TJ and Roxy eat a small spoon of active culture yogurt with some extra probiotics and a few dried cranberries for their AM meal. I also started to give them Virgin Organic Coconut Oil, which is suppose to be an over all health benefit (skin, ligaments, heart, etc...) Then their PM meal will be the mOrigins. They won't be getting any veggies or grains. Some small amounts of fruit here and there and once a week they get a scrambled brown organic cage free egg (with add nutrients as well). And I do have some healthy potty treats as well. Last edited by TLC; 05-11-2007 at 06:12 AM. |

| Do a search on google for Virgin Coconut Oil for Dogs. From what I've read this is very good for overall health, including clearing up skin issues very quickly |
